Two commutes for me this weekend, although I only live 3 miles from my normal place of work I managed 35 miles on my way in last night. Headed out into County Durham round to the coast back through Sunderland. Great on the outward leg with a nice tailwind.

Tonight I was required to work at another location. So a fairly straight forward 14 miles but in heavy traffic which is not my norm. Anyway no great drama. Looking forward to a faster return in the morning with hopefully a lot less traffic.

Lovely ride today, weather was chilly to start off with but warmed up enough so that I was kind of regretting putting thermals on. Beautiful blue skies and the sun warm on our faces by the time we got back home.
Oh, to be in England. Now that April's March's there, etc. etc...

Two and a bit hours at a fairly sedate pace.

Ride marred only by slipping on the corner of a muddy lane and falling off, completely taking the knee out of my last remaining pair of Bikesters (RIP).

Chased a moped down for a brief session of motor-paced training. I think it's a bit early in the season for that sort of thing, really. First outing this year on the road bike.

Sounds like an "interesting" ride that Colly.

Fifty miles today, my riding partner couldn't make it so I headed to where ColinJ's ride were meeting, went up the first hill with them and enjoyed the lovely views from the top and then left them to do more hills and came my own way home.

Descending Blackstone Edge I saw a friend heading up it so did a quick U turn but couldn't catch him.

Breezy but mostly sunny.

Havn't done much mileage over winter (barring regular commuting) so set off this morning for a steady ride on my old loop.
Hefty breeze outbound and like 3BMcG, started with too much on and had to shed layers after 10 miles.
Started steady...that lasted about 5 miles, then the old must push on mentality kicks in, just cant help myself.
Snowdrops out, some other flowers i couldnt identify, lambs in fields, springs here ;)
Lovely homeward bound tailwind, so ended up doing 19 miles (its a start) at 16.5 mph average, which was quite pleasing..normally my first rides average about 15.5 mph.

I hadn't really realised how unfit I'd got over winter and when the club run yesterday stepped up to 21.8mph average for the middle 10 miles, I really struggled, especially as we were a chain of 5 and it was very windy. I like to say thanks to the guy on the Cervello he dropped back and towed me back into the pack

Nice day here so club run went off pretty well. Tail wind out mostly so I knew we were in for a "treat" on the way back. Lots of other riders out and about too. 35 miles to the cafe stop and a big chunk of Bread and Butter pudding. We managed to "tack" back into the wind so it wasn't too hard. 62 miles and feeling like I've had a good steady ride in some sensible temperatures for a change.

Remarkable only in the fact that I actually had one. A combination of a knee injury, the rotten weather over the winter and being stupidly busy at work had left me feeling like an ex-cyclist. 40 miles in the sun looking at new baa lambs was a great relief.

Twas a nice brisk ride with a fair amount of climbing for these parts & felt surprisingly short, but then again after doing 117 miles last week 78 miles was a big reduction in miles. Unfortunately most of the view was freshly ploughed fields & there are still some spots where flooding was still in evidence but nice to see lots of small birds darting around in the hedgerows.

spotted a club up ahead today. took all my effort to catch up with them and sat at the back of the group for a couple of miles past Stanford hall. turned out to be Coventry road club (or something like that). they were flying along at 26mph+ on the flat, faster down hill and not much slower up hill. fun for a while but not really my sort of thing.

turned off and headed up a steady climb towards Cold Ashby, passed an "older couple" near the top. we stopped at the top for a little chat. turned out they were from lutterworth. :becool: (Hello if your on here)

loads of people out today. im definitely a solo rider but it was nice to have a bit company out there today.

I don't think The Cov Road Club made the cafe, Whilton Locks Garden Store, this morning, they dropped the man who knew where the Cafe was. I went out to the Cafe on my own and the only other rider to come in before I left at about midday was my mate who had been dropped. We rode most of the way home together, spliting up at marton to go to different sides of Coventry. I did 62 miles today and though the run out was very enjoyable the run back into the wind was like an extended training run.

It was a funny old day. Seemed to have a friendly wind where normally it would be on my beak. Despite the promised warmer weather, it was still quite fresh as I started out. As I have lost a considerable amount of weight (14kg) over the last months, my ability to withstand the cold has somewhat diminished.

Got a free tow up the last part of Polehill. As I joined it, two lads had just gone by and I jumped on for about half a mile.

Up ahead, I saw a couple riding. On a hill he would just leave her and let her catch up, not very gentlemanly.

A lot of work had been done on the roads, but holes are still there to catch the unwary.

Seen that myself...i agree. Half way up a hill i saw his missus (i assume) struggling while he made better way...i overtook her, then him a bit further up....and rode on. I became aware about 4 miles later he was on my tail...he'd chased me down for 4 miles...overtook me in a burst of speed...and promptly turned around :becool: and went back for his long since gone partner
