First time out for an age. Did not get taken in by the Sun. Estimated the amount of clobber I would need and added one layer to it.

First, got stopped by the mobile phone. Could not ignore it, might be a customer.

Second came across a mate coming in the opp direction - trailing a broken chain behind him. A plaintive cry of "Gotta chain tool?" Another 20 minutes getting cold while he mended it.

Went home and had a shower.

Still, got the miles in.

Appointment near home at lunch so quick change after, bike out and back to work on the bike. Fast ride back after, loved it dry roads and sun out for a change. Only downer the poor road surfaces and potholes. Nearly came off on the roundabout outside Sainsburys in Macc because the surface was so lumpy.

Chillblains
Its lovely out there, but the chillblains have resurfaced  Jeesus.

Not many miles (possibly 12 today commuting) but i've started pushing along on the big ring again, try to bring my fitness up again. Held 19mph for maybe 3 or 4 miles on the way home (with no wind to speak of).

It was breezy here, but I decided to do an off/on road run which I haven't done for a few months. I was pretty pleased when I got back, as it only took 49 minutes. That compares with a best-time of about 45 minutes late last year, which was set in the dry.

I have put the extra time down to the gooey mud and convinced myself that I'm not as unfit as I thought I was.

I made the basic mistake of dressing too warmly, though, wearing an extra windproof fleece. Within about 5 minutes, I had every zip, button and popper undone trying to keep cool.

25 miles, 1,000 feet total ascent, thighs aren't working so good just at the moment and by heck was it cold after the sun set.

Loved it.

Did a 150km Audax today, though it doesn't look to be affiliated with Audax UK, in a group with 5 other riders. It was nice as we rode on a lot of roads I wouldn't normally ride on & we were setting a hard pace & we even got held at the first manned check point for arriving early  which threw away our strategy of upping the pace on the 1st & last sectors to compensate for the climbing to be done in the middle sector. Great fun, I could get used to this type of event

Oh & I shattered my maximum distance on a single ride... up from a little over 86 to 117 miles (I'll class it as a single ride as I stopped for no more than 7 min at any one point):thumbsup:

50 mile test ride of the Rushton - Macclesfield part of the Cheshire Cat. Cold, sunny, and some serious ice in places (climbing a 1 in 7 covered in ice and slush for 800 yards....). 4000ft of climbing.

40 miles of glorious sun but icy cold in a NE breeze up along the Waveney valley and back through the heart of mid Suffolk - in fact, in some shaded areas with field run-off, I had to slow right down as there was a lot of ice right across the road, even at 2 to 3pm. Only 3C at the moment.

Also had my first clipless moment for 18 months

Hurrah - I got out today in the sunshine after a bug which left me weak as a kitten. Found the climbs hard but enjoyed my 58 miles with cafe stop.
Put myself on the scales when I got in and realised why the climbs were hard

I was in North Lincolnshire this weekend, took a bike with me for a Sunday morning run. First up a quick trip over the Humber bridge into Yorkshire then straight back over to civilisation, phew!. Beautiful morning so I thought I'd get a quick pic of the bridge-that-will-never-pay. Phone camera completely out of battery, gah!
Back through Barton and Barrow and on to Goxhill where my parents grew up, the village has completely changed, not unique I know. Gone are the old post office, the butchers, etc. The house where my dad grew up was the caretakers house for the market garden - all the acres and acres of greenhouses where we used to play as kids have been replaced with a modern housing estate, in fact the garden has been half given over to a double garage for one of the houses. Through Goxhill and past the war memorial for the Americans who were at the USAAF base there, Clark Gable was one of the airmen there during WWII. There's then a grid of single track lanes which are great for an hours blast. Others have talked of their heroic climbs during their rides but this was Lincolnshire, I had maybe 20 feet of climbing during the ride, at one point I had to drop a cog as I contended with a 1 in 1,000,000 incline but that was about it.
On the way back to Barton I stopped off in Barrow to meet Gerry and Mrs Attrick at Attrick Towers where I was treated to home made scones and a nice cup of tea  - lovely to meet such friendly CycleChat folk and I thank them for their hospitality.

100km From Knaresborough, through York and on to Pocklington and back. It was a tad fresh out there but the ride was much easier than the one that I should have been doing in South Yorkshire.
