Hi Common Rail  Yes, its the pits having to pedal downhill, so disheartening

18mph winds here (Sunday lunchtime) gusting to 33 mph. Everywhere is wet wet wet, light showers but quite bright in the gaps, so off for a one hour ride across the country parks and tracks around my way.
Had to turn round near the rowing lakes adjacent to the River Nene, paths blocked by flood water. The nene is fairly rushing through and they've got both sluices open...there's a lot of water coming from Northampton way.
I'm absolutely filthy  back of my jacket is filthy, leggings are filthy, shoes are covered...and thats with mudguards

Its a long time since i saw everywhere so wet, fields are flooded, paths are covered with debris from even higher waterlines.

So, 10 to 15 miles on the hybrid...just didn't fancy fighting the wind out in the open on the roadie.

A nice non-raining but relatively slow ride today. I wouldn't say dry however, as on several occasions there was water so deep the BB was submerged.

38 miles today, from home a quick visit into to County Durham and then back along the coast. Quite windy in places but dry apart from one flooded road where the water came over the BB and soaked my feet. Just as well it wasnt to far from home, feet were still bloody frozen by the time I got home.
No sympathy from Mrs AF as usual:smile::smile:

:biggrin: Forgot to say, i was riding through Ferry Meadows country park, hardly anyone about and just one of the times it'd have been awesome to have been wearing a helmet cam...
So i'm riding through the park, lakes to my left, grassland to my right with a load of greylag geese on it. 4 of them took off, and flying at about head height, came straight for me
I watched them approaching thinking...bugger off  20ft...15ft...:ohmy:10ft...then they peeled skywards.
It'd really have been something on camera. Shame really.

70 miles of serious Sportive type Moultoneering in Worcester-Hereford and Gloucestershire.

Echelon bike shop organised it and a jolly nice pedal it was too.
I was keeping up until the front tyre went pssssssst after 5 miles , I had a chance of catching a few folk after another 10 miles until psssssssst it went again [ don't use Brompton tyres in the wild thorn strewn lanes ] .. Oh well.
4hrs 50 ish and I wasn't last, a couple of slackers stopped for lunch in Tewksbury:wacko::laugh::biggrin:

Great ride and I am feeling fairly fit which is a good thing, nearly threw up a gel near the end though:laugh:

I had my first go at breaking my fear of hills today. 20 miles over the fell road from Egremont to Ennerdale Bridge and back down the C2C route towards Whitehaven.

It was dry but cloudy and windy, and I only averaged 10mph (the first 6 miles rose over 1000ft with me spending far too much time in my hybrids bottom gear) but the thrill of reaching the top was great. I think I've just found my summer ride home from work

Scared myself a bit when two sheep went kamikaze on the fell towards me as I hit 46mph on the decent.

Surreal start to the week. Strange omens in the heavens: a big orange circle floating in a sky of blue, and followed an ice-cream van through Tooting.

Has Aslan come back?

had a quick run today, despite heavy traffic in norbury, streatham and a re-route thanks to victoria main approach being closed i was only 2 mins off my personal best. a smooth 16mph average is a good start. now to watch that drop for the rest of the week.

First commute of the year on the Bianchi...what a joy
Just a 13 mile round trip, good to check the work that's been done on it.

Sunny and bright, not a hint of wind, hapless MTB riding commuters all over the place...i love commuting

Went for a 20km spin on the fixed yesterday in the rain. Nothing interesting in that except I went through 3 flooded fords en route.

2 were about a foot deep and short but the first was something special....300 metres between 1 and 2 feet. I passed two stranded cars complete with occupants. I got soaked halfway up my lower leg and the transmission felt much smoother afterwards. Healthy dose of WD40 and lube to the chain afterwards!

I did a 40 mile trundle on my tourer yesterday. After a long period of ill health and bad weather it was nice to get out again. However it's quite clear that I'm well puny in the strength department and although my legs feel fine today they had no power in them at all yesterday. I never thought that after all these years of being a vaguely competent cyclist I'd be reduced to trundling like an old tourist...but then they were better than they were on Saturday, so onward and upward I suppose...
