Main roads were okay. But there's a lot of black ice in the lanes.
I managed to come off twice. Both times landing on my bum:blush:, but had to laugh second time around:biggrin:

Had an early rise, met a fellow club member at Bolton Arena at 9:30 and we were off. We did a circuit of 4/5 miles about 6 times, 2nd time round I ended up breaking on a bit of ice (bad idea) and I ended up taking a tumble. We stopped and had a cup of tea about 30miles in, where I fell again(in the cafe, slippy cleats). After then, 2miles down about we went different ways. The way home is about 10miles but I ended up getting lost adding on atleast another 5miles. I also got a p**c***e on the way home, replaced it in a PC world carpark.

First real ride for a while, aching a bit but enjoyable, it feels as if my tailbone is hurting aswell.

My ride was about 0.75 mile, from the lbs to my flat on my new bike (with some sketchy traffic moments being my 1st time riding clipless - unclipping is fine, its clipping in that was sketchy causing some false starts!) As I carried it up the stairs to my flat, I heard a hiss................ f*cking puncture, only owned the bike for about 45 mins and now im pulling the wheel off to fix my puncture!

I had a lovely ride through the Cheshire lanes to Tatton Park

Stopped by the lake to consume some Percy Pigs and then flew down the Tatton Mile and draughted a tractor to Ashley. Only down side my feet got so cold when I got off the bike my toes had gone numb.

Todays ride was short & spoiled by one of the group taking an early spill on a patch of black ice. Unfortunately it meant they couldn't climb or sustain high speeds when with a tail wind, a flat & short route was settled on by the group. I could have carried on by my self but by the time we broke up as a group I just wasn't in the mood. Still managed to put in enough miles to be 1/2 a mile over my unofficial target for the month

The ride it's self was nice n' relaxed with nice scenery thanks for semi-snow clad ploughed fields, ice lakes in grassy paddocks & a touch of mist in strategically beautiful spots.

Another Sunday morning Bromley Massive ride in full effect. -2 When I left home at 7.15am. Met Mista Preston at the Dripping Tap as per usual.. He was 1 minute late.. not bad, getting better. A bit of banter and we where off along the A21 for our next stop and joinee at New Cross fire station, Mr Tdr1nka. The Massive was now 3. Next stop Camberwell Green. The 3 T's where waiting, TTCycle, TopCat & Tollers along with 'In shorts' Delzeqq. So seven of us today. This ride is slowly gaining more attendees.. So on to Vauxhall, Victoria and Hyde Park Corner. ('teef wasn't there). So a quick breather, photo opportunities and for the rest of us to ask a shivering Delzeqq if he was cold!. Down Constitution Hill past Liz's place, down the Mall to Horse Guards to watch the changing of the Guard. Our presence and array of fine looking bikes gaining the interest of a couple of London's finest mounted Constabulary. As usual a pootle past Trafalgar Square to McDonalds on the Strand for a McPiss. A goodbye to Delzeqq then off to the the Embankment to follow the Thames to Tower Bridge. Not helped by a complete arse of a coach driver who thought it would be fun to try cut me up.... Tower Bridge and a goodbye to Tollers. On to Rotherhithe, Surrey Quays, Deptford, a goodbye to Topcat who was off to Greenwich and a goodbye to Tdr1nka and TTCycle. So back to Bromley, this time for a change, following the Waterlink Way to Bromley and a quick scoot back home. 50 Miles on a chilly, sunny day...

26 miles (according to google maps) on my fixed. Aim was to get out and get used to the bike by riding to stockport and back, ended up going wrong side of a fork in the road and ended up in northenden(which wasnt such a bad thing because there was some nice golf courses to ride past and some nice smooth quiet road to have some fun getting some speed up without risk of needing to stop quickly), rode through there to the yew tree pub, U-turned, and rode back to disbury, took the correct turn towards stockport, rode through stockport, round up past the harley davison garage (where I passed a group that looked like a cycling club out for a ride - a couple of them aknowledged me, was quite nice), did a loop and came back down the road where the bamford arms is back through stockport and back wilmslow road/oxford road way back into manchester city centre.

Possibly furthest I've ever cycled, and it was my 1st time out propperly on my fixed. Few sketchy moments, mainly my own fault by getting confused by cycle tracks on the road. Some cyclist near disbury grunted at me and took past me, obviously not happy with my possition at the lights (I'd hung back and was surveying my possition rather than go to the front of traffic because I was trying to figure out if I was in the right lane)!

Thoroughtly enjoyed it and I deffo had 10 more miles left in the tank (without taking food with me, I was running on 2 slices of nutella on toast!) Saw quite a few cyclists out, wonder if any of them post here, if they do............ Hi if you saw a guy in denim shorts and a black hat riding a Fuji track bike looking rather bemused in the manchester/stockport area between 13:40pm and 15:30pm! lol

Today was my first time out on my new budget road bike and I think there might be something wrong with the stopwatch on my blackberry, I can't have made it to the seafront in less than 15 minutes, it usually takes me nearly twice that. Imagine how quick it would have been had I not gone to Halfords and got a proper bike instead
Also I think that being on a road bike is making me more confident on the road and dare I say it, cheekier. I did get beautifully cut up by a couple of BMWs although in one case I may have deserved it after I outrageously filtered between two lanes of stationery traffic, despite how far she tried to pull across to block me.

It's going to be a long process training up to the Randonnée and I'll have to do more than to the hovercraft and back.

Good run out today with a good gathering as well. Great to see Mr Delzeqq in the daylight for a change.

Felt rubbish and cold to start with thou, sorry about that. I did 37 miles today which is a couple more than the last couple of weeks. Great scenic route back was a nice change Ian even with Henry's hill. After your little one has arrived I think we should consider extending the route, cut out the horse guards and maybe leaving a little earlier (which may make me on time:biggrin:)

58 miles round 'the Douglas' for me this morning. It was fekking baltic to start off with. Nearly went back home after a couple of miles to get another pair of gloves  but persevered and in the end my hands warmed up

19 miles - nearly gave up around the first five miles (even walked up a hill as started sliding) as the lovely scenic back roads - are lovely sheets of compact snow and black ice out of the sun & it's amazing how much is out of the sun, with some perseverance headed for busier roads with cars on, for once I was glad to see them:ohmy:

first ride on the road since the begining of Jan, just hope the weather improves
