32 miles making the most of the good weather in Hampshire today. Felt great until I got home, totally forgot i had my new clipless shoes on and tumbled in to a heap outside my house. After 100 miles riding with clipless shoes for the first time I think I let my guard down. The pain in my shoulder this evening will help me not to forget next time...!

The forecast for today was pants followed by more pants with heavy showers of saggy grey pants this afternoon.

So we, of course, had wall-to-wall sunshine and bright blue skies from sunup to sundown. I took the opportunity to put in a quick 20 miles on a hybridised old-skule MTB and had a great time. I went past Cliveden and through Burnham Beeches, it was fantastic. I saw about a dozen cyclists and half a dozen horses, and exchanged friendly greetings with all of them.

Had a bit of a mare just before getting home again, though, as my route required e to ride about 50 yards through the thick mud along the Thames. It turns out that Schwalbe's City Slicks are well named, I thought I was going for a swim a couple of times.

Then I headed over to my kids' school and cycled home with my daughter. Fantastic ride, great fun. It's only 8 miles and it took an hour (she's not feeling well) but we had a great deal of gassing along the way.

Today the weather was stunning. I got up early and went out fully intending to do 70 miles. After 25 my chain snapped, and I didn't have a chain tool with me, so I had to go home. I was very hacked off as I was going well and having a wonderful time.

Cold, wet, windy & throughly rewarding! 75 solo miles, my first solo ride over 50 miles

Nice going, particularly in this weather.

I've said in the past that I don't ride in the wet - ever, but I've now finally got over my aversion to riding in the rain. It started with fitting some full mudguards on my winter bike, then I invested in some decent bad weather kit early in the summer and now I realise rain is in the mind mostly. If you have the right kit it's not that bad. I've still to sort out some quality gloves, though. But the Sidi Diablo boots I bought in the PBK sale have come into their own, they're brilliant! Warm tootsies in cold weather for the first time in my cycling career!

Anyway, did just 40 miles in the rain today and 28 in it yesterday, too. That will do for me!

20 to 30 miles on the winter bike (no computer fitted)this evening. Its been raining, winds not too bad but all the roads are wet, thank heavens for mudguards.
Got flaming chillblains already, my toes feel like they're on fire ;) Its not even that cold yet, gawld help me. I may look at those Sidi boots Dodgy...i really suffer at this time of year.

Ive said before, my updated Raleigh Clubman isnt a pretty bike, but i realise every time i ride it, it's such a lovely smooth ride, and fast too.

It aint much but i'm happy. After a long time out of the saddle, due to crippling sciatica, i managed two (no, four!) 1.5km rides either side of the train station today!

But it aint half nippy. I'll treat myself (and kona mi) to studded tyres at the weekend.

A certain Aerosmith song comes to mind!!

Was dry today so donned the multiple thermal layers and got out for a few hours, was pretty cold at 7am but needed to be back in uni to give a presentation...
