My ride today was extremely wet. I have my socks and gloves drying out under the desk. Waterproofs are all shaken off and dried. My socks don't normally get wet, but I didn't zip my overshoe up properly for one foot, which resulted in the top of my sock getting somewhat wet. Hey ho. Hopefully everything will be dry enough for the cycle home. Or my socks at least.

Race Ride into town to get my free breakfast. Had some arse in a car not wanting me to pass on a downhill section where there are speed bumps, is a nice wide road and i was doing the speedlimit, he wasnt. I out skilled him though and went to make out i was going to undertake, then overtake him but he moved over so i just moved over more and went past waving at him as he braked for the next speed bump:thumbsup: Bloody Jag drivers:evil: Would of been illegal, his window tinting at the front was way too much.
Some nice young women in lycra at this free breakfast, but there were probably more older people there:sad: Bloody windy aswell, nice ride after though, went out to Hoveringham via Caythrope and Lowdham.

Nothing out the ordinary from a 'ride' point of view, but saw my first recumbent in Norway this morning 'bout 06.00. Said a cheery hello, but the fella blanked me! People like him give recumbent riders cyclist a bad name! ;)

Then minutes later, saw a load of police cordoning off a field, with one of them holding the reins of a horse. Normally there are two horses in this field, so I was imagining an Equus-type scene! :o). On the ride home, saw nothing untowards in the field, just an empty field!

Enjoyed my commute home tonight at rush hour...i always like to mix it with the traffic (such as it is in Peterborough, compared with bigger cities))
I LOVE it when you overtake stationary traffic...and its 2 oe 3 miles later before they overtake you eventually.

Todays ride ?...surprise surprise...it's windy
25mph winds, gusting to 47 mph here according to the MetOffice.
Outbound against the wind, only able to do 15 mph DOWNHILL ..plodding along at 9 to 12 mph otherwise..ah well, head down and find a steady rythm.

Oh yes !!! then comes the homeward leg...one section i did 30 mph for about 5 miles , i felt superhuman. ..what a shame there were'nt any other cyclists to flash past ;) I could have gone to Hunstanton easily with that wind.

No incidents to report, happily..just a mix of a slow and fast ride.

No, i lie....stopped at the side of the road to re-arrange myself, one foot clipped in, one foot on the grass.....a bl00dy gust of wind blew me physically backwards and i near fell into the road.

A simple 19 miles at just under 16 mph average.

I reported my ride yesterday on the 'wind' thread. Today's ride to the local supermarket for some bog roll, among other things, was dominated by my stupidest ever SPD moment. I was nowhere near my bike. I was pushing a supermarket trolley around the aisles, slipped on my SPDs on the supermarket floor and went flat on my face. What an idiot!

Quick blast across town and back at rush hour with me new C2C Nirone Xenon ..and very nice too.
Only had to 'gently' tell off one driver for coming too close as she overtook me (in bumber to bumber traffic, at slow speed)..
looked her in the eye as i passed her (how far did she get...not far), and i made a 'tiny' gesture with my finger and thumb..and said 'a little more room next time please'....and onward.
I like the idea of a gentle telling off sometimes...hopefully you dont make so many enemies.
I seem to be getting on with this compact chainset better than i did with my original 2006 Via Nirone. May or may not convert the 34 to a 40T, see how it goes.
Hot and sweaty 10 mile commute, the joys of having a rucksack on your back
