My ride today started at 0630 hours with the sun shining and the temperature in the high 20's. Quite a strong breeze so times were a little down from yesterday and had a visit from 'the fairy' about 10Km from home. I'm currently in Manila hence the warm temps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last night got a punc. just as the chainy was kicking off, fixed it double quick - caught them up after multiple miles of 25mph + of chasing, then some lad had to stop and fix his seat-post clamp (S.Post slipping) so helped him out there with a bolt from my bike - so that was my good gesture for the week !

Three directional wind seems to be the order of the day today
Short ride tonight, wind in my face for maybe 10 miles (north and east) then tailwind for just 5 miles (headed south)

Stop at friends to discuss thier ever growing collection of Matchbox cars (fascinating...up to a point :wacko:;)).

Set out at 7.00....home at 9.45.
Two and three quarter hours...15 miles . Least said, soonest mended.

Came home the long way 22.5 miles instead of 4.8 miles nice summers morning apart from the multi direction wind.

Yesterday was a hard ride. Wanted to keep it low but then saw someone else i thought was better and sat behind them. Found they were slow so overtook them. Ended up bombing along into a strong-ish head wind doing about 23.5-24mph and when in Burton Joyce he came past, so i sat behind him while he was doing 23mph, which slowly dropped and i sprinted past him when he got to 20mph. He didnt catch me up then:evil:
Went round to someone in the clycle clubs house to look through his garage for parts for the fixed and got some good stuff cheap.
Today was a club ride, ended up on the front for ages, then at the end got the ride going faster, but didnt get much help to keep any speed up by the other people untill later so the speed didnt keep that constant. Was a nice ride though. Went to 'Smokey Joes' by the side of the A1, but not sure where about it is, wont a bad cafe. Bean on toast and a Pepsi for £3.

had a quiet ride through the lanes and cyclepaths to ribble to get some bar tape. nice steady 50 miles.thankfully the forecast rain showers didn't show up. got home and managed to get the old tape off ,to replace the brake cable, without spoiling it!

WVM ? BTFB .......please elaborate

Mine was a windy (where does it come from ? )...the last couple of months the winds been from the North...it doesnt suit any of my routes...just plain hard work 75% of the time.
Must get my front derailleur sorted....its been a bugger to change onto the botton ring.
Been quite boring lately....no real sun to liven the countryside up.

Mine was nice today. Went into town the long way, went to one of the bike shops in there to talk about ordering my fixed hub. Also to see if they are going to get some of the Velocity Deep V rims in pretty colours. few taxi drivers annoyed me, one nearly pulled out on me:angry: and the others just got in the way and came past close.
Went round a round-about too fast, nearly took the wrong exit so braked, popped back out and shot into the one i wanted.;) There was no cars there so it wasn't too bad, backwheel slipped about abit, and the ultra gatorskins really gripped the ground as i was bombing around the island, brilliant fun.
Only did 25 miles today, but came the hilly way home. It was very nice:biggrin:

I was in your neck of the woods on Sunday Joe, or at least where you've ridden ( i fink  )
East Bridgeford, Lowdham way etc (i used to live round there)...en route to Calverton. Never made it to Calverton...bit late for a carboot at midday

Anyways...todays ride...two interesting points.
Roughly a 23 mile loop into the countryside hereabouts...little breezy (so whats new  ). Riding along.....WHOA !!!!!!. Theres a grass verge up to some trees, and on the verge is a broken tree branch...with a probably young, one eyed Jay sitting on it :ohmy:
I scuttled round, approached the Jay slowly...he hopped round on the branch to look at me, thats when i realised he only had one eye. T'other was , well, just a scabby patch where his eye shoulda been.
He looked healthy in every other way, just looked young, a bit beyond a fledgling, and didnt seem too scared.
Then i realised, i'm stood two feet away from him...and i dropped my bag off at home pre ride...with my camera in it
FFS, i will never get this close ever again to a Jay !!!

So i left him be, and hope the best for him.

Second point was some fcukwit in an Audi Q7 (reg MT75 i think) who closed me right down as we rounded a R/h bend. As i swooped round, all i could see was his front wing closing the door right in front of me as he overtook me.
I always bellow at the top of my voice at this point (expletives deleted for the sake of shrinking violets) and the driver corrected and straightened his 'tank'
I was so so angry ;) it was probably best he didnt stop. I scanned every house and side road for the next few miles in the hope of seeing his car parked.....which is silly of course, but anger gets the better of you occasionally.
He was at best remarkably unnatentive, or did it deliberately.

Shame really, i shall'nt lose any sleep, but Q7 driver spoiled an otherwise nice ride.

You were GBB. You didnt see us did you. I would have been coming down the A6097 at about 12:30-12:45 ish in a chain gang. Between Woodborough and Lowdham.
I often ride in the East Bridgford, Lowdham, Hoveringham sort of area. Its a nice area, dont live there though, i live in Carlton, if you know where that is.
