did the clubs 100 mile standard ride yesterday with 14 other club members.
nice sunny but cool day round sedbergh and dent before retunring to the finish in whalley.

How long does that take you PW...
I've often thought i'd like to seriously stretch the mileage, but i always go at full tilt...that obviously limits my stamina to 30 or 40 miles.
Now, if i were to take it steady, and maybe had all day

What kind of average speeds are you making over the 100.?

Went out on a 50 mile club run which included shooter560 and adam2008. We managed to get dropped at 40 miles with some others when the pace went up to 48kmh+ and no end of chasing could get us back with the pack. Nevertheless, a good spin in preparation for the Norwich 100.

because it's a touring club we have to cater for all abilities so there is a 8 hours riding time plus 2 food stops of 30 minutes.
a few years ago you could choose between 6,7,8 or 9 hours, but getting marshals for the checkpoints was a problem.
in the end we did a steady 6:59 riding time.
it's probably the last time we can have fun with the etape du dales riders on the climb out of dent as the date is changing next year to allow club riders to do both.
it's a lot easier in a group than solo.
our "hardest "ride is 150 in 12 hours with most of the climbing in the first 60 miles to kirkby stephen followed by 90 miles of a mix of downhill, flat and gentle undulating..people tend to panic as they think they are down on schedule at the dinner stop at ks.!
the easiest is probably the 200 in 24 hours which has a brew stop every 20 or so miles.

Yesterday was out to Edwinstow/ Sherwood Forest and manage to drop a few people near the end and just before the cafe. Wasnt my fault, i just went and sat on someones back wheel, then was encouraged to just go for it and there were about 5 of us powering along. Ended up at the cafe way before everyone else, then everyone else came in after each other. Was 65m
Today was a decent ride. 31miles overall. 2 big hills, one longer and bigger then the other. I went from Woodborough to Lambly over the big hill. Went it the other way on friday and did 40.3mph going down the hill that i went up today. The road at the bottom was closed, and not wanting to turn back i carried on. Found out it was passable and was nice to bomb down there with no cars around.

23 miles today after a bad shift, needed to chill.
50 miles last month and 60 so far this, not earth shattering but I am heading the right way back to some kind of fitness

commute to work this morning a pleasent 7 miles and then just as i was about to leave for home at 6.30 i got a call from Mrs Windy asking if we should go for a Ruby Murry? result, she picked me up in the car; so only half the miles i should have done but a lovely curry at the Bishop Waltham Tandoori (a highly recommended curry house should you find yourself in the area!):biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

Sunday 62 miles - longest ride in one day. Lincoln to East Kirby & back; headwind all the way outbound but only some of the time inbound.

Monday all work & no cycling  Tired legs too!

Exhilarating today, a bloke with bulgy tattooed calf musles tried to burn me up. he was younger and fitter but his bike was squeeking, whistling, rattling and groaning so when we hit traffic I overtook the line of cars on the off side and he was blocked by a parked car. Had to slow down through the park and get my breath. A colleague got in a race and burned up the other chap so turned and said:

"Come on!"

and got a mouthful of abuse. M'colleague was shocked and said he thought it was part of the game but I said you must never acknowledge your competitor, don't glance over as you overtake, don't let them hear you breathing.

My mate was really puzzled, the other chap said:

"What's your chuffing problem!?"

M'colleague was crestfallen, he just wanted to carry on in the game, broke the cardinal rule.
