Too hot!!

Go out in the early evening Chief...
Ive held off all day, partly cos i had to, but partly because i just didnt fancy getting too hot today.
Out at 6 this evening...brilliant. A little cool breeze makes all the difference. I hardly got sweaty at all.

20 odd miles on the old Raleigh. somethings occured to me....how smooth it rides. The front fork 'rake' is quite noticeable, i dont particually like it to look at, but does this help to absorb buzz from the road ?

Did the XC route at Innerleithen today (black graded). First time on a mtb for a couple of months and boy had I lost confidence on the technical bits. It was very hot and sweaty slog up to the trig point on the minch moor. I was very impressed with the improvements they've made to the route thereafter. Very fast flowing singletrack, nice jumps, rock gardens and swoops with the piece de resistance to finish off - Cadon bank, possibly the best mountain biking in the whole of Scotland and guaranteed to put a smile on your face

Got my roadie back from the menders (I posted before about dodgy tyre fitting from them) and took it out on sat for a hilly 50-miler...
2 miles from home, hit pothole hard and got snakebite puncture... tyre went flat in 2 seconds flat! Was hurrying home for Dr. Who, so rather than fiddle with it (snik snik) by the roadside, got Mrs F to pick me and the bike up in the car!:blush:

Early Saturday morning I managed, since taking up cycling again a few months ago, my longest ride (40 miles) at my best speed (15 mph) at my lowest average heart rate (127 bpm).

Slower than a fat old slow thing, but getting better...

Decent ride today. Was going to go hilly, but then i thought i would just go for a huge amount of time with a head wind instead and come back on the nice turny roads. Ultra Gatorskins were nice and grippy on the courners aswell when i was going at a decent speed.
Saw a chav car nearly be taken out by two other cars. It was at a T junction, he was coming out of a car park, which then sort of made it a x-roads. He didnt want to wait for me so when i started rolling slowly waiting for the car turning left to go(i was turning right) he floored it. ABS worked on the cars well, only abit of a skid heard. A gew horns honked, and the chavs got a big clap from the car it neary hit. They did give me a wide berth when they came past though, they went on the wrong side of the road, round one of those centre crossing things, with a courner very close to it.

Oh...i just found i didnt 'quite' tighten my front derailleur when building the bike.
25 ish miles tonight...nice and cool, slightly breezy, nice empty cycle route:tongue:
About 2 miles from home, changed down on the front :ohmy::ohmy:. Crunch, graunch....oh. The mech has turned on the downtube, the 'arms' are bent...a bit of brutal twisting re-aligned it enough to get home.

New Sora mech required....back to ebay tomorrow :biggrin:

I question my fitness at the moment xx(...and yet i already know what part of the problem is....yes......it's the bl00dy wind

A simple 25 miles last night...set out against'ish the wind, got nice and aero and maintained some reasonable speed ...only to find once i'd turned round (expecting a tail'ish wind)...the bloomin wind was all over...in my face, cutting across me...just didnt seem to get any shelter at all.

Squirrelly wind....whatever squirrelly is ???? All over the place.

16 mph average on a not particually inspiring route, my legs are tired, my backs sore, and to cap it all, two people have said to me today ..'you're looking tired'...sometimes, i wonder why i bother :biggrin:

A hilly 21 miler for me yesterday on the 3 "peaks" that overlook my hometown.

Really enjoyed it, am even beginning to like climbing. Help! Whats wrong with me?!

I did 70 miles into Cheshire yesterday, some moderate climbs but nothing too serious apart from the climb into Alvanley on the edge of Delamere Forest. In fact this route is one that I got out of the comic that Steve Cummings regularly does.
I've got a pain behind my left knee today (it came on halfway around yesterday) which is unusual, I very rarely get injuries

Dave.

did the clubs 100 mile standard ride yesterday with 14 other club members.
nice sunny but cool day round sedbergh and dent before returning to the finish in whalley.
