Good ride this afternoon in the heat. It was only 37 miles but averaged over 18mph which is pretty good for me! I was absolutely flying up the main climb (Pantani style) until I ran into a whole bunch of cyclists with "sw3 to the sea" shirts on walking their bikes up, requiring me to slow right down until the traffic that was backed up behind them could get around:sad:

A miniscule 12 miles today, but this is on top of four days of walking/cycling in the Peaks, so did not feel too bad. Nursing the calf muscles ready for another country walk tomorrow!

Had to go:
Home-LBS-home-LBS straight after each other.
I needed to pick two things up and pay the money i owe them. The LBS is down in Woodborough which has a huge hill to go up, so i did this twice aswell as the other shorter hills on the way there and back. Got a average of 17.75, and saw a guy on the bike going in the oposit direction 3 times as i was going home, LBS then back home again.
Only 28.17 miles done today.

I did a 45 miler + today. I enjoyed it but think I suffered wipeout from the heat. Totting up the mini climbs I think I did probably a few hundred feet more than I anticipated which might explain the mindnumblingly slow average speed achieved. Some great places out there though in this weather.

Back after a while.

First proper ride of the year after a house move and then weeks of appalling weather- am forced by arthritis to be a fairweather cyclist these days. As the road bike is awaiting new cables the hybrid it had to be, lovely new country lane route out to a reasonably surfaced bridleway network around a flooded gravel pit. It links into last year's summer rides for the MTB too. Lovely evening, and note with approval the bicycle rack bolted to wall of beautiful rural pub on the way :becool:

We cycled up over the Old Kilpatrick hills then out to Balloch and back. The weather was ideal but the tracks on the hill are a lot more rutted and harsh than they used to be. I don't know the distance 40-odd miles maybe?

Got out at about mid day - 26 fast miles - once the roads had dried. Got back then off to friends for a couple of hours, when the showers started...really nice now - sat in the garden on the lappy !

34 miles, over the old Severn bridge to Tintern Abbey and back. Not a huge mileage but the furthest I've been since by big accident last year. Trying to build up some mileage before the Exmouth Exodus next month.

Good lad! ;)

Baggy and I managed 40 miles today, mostly flat, to the cafe at Bickleigh Mill. Our longest ride so far this year...:blush:
Then gardening until dark. My back aches like fury, the beer I'm drinking is the last one in the house and I'm about to get into a nice hot bath.

I let the chainy go, halfway round, on Thurs evening due the previous days 5hr ride..so today i was out for 4hrs 65mls /107.10kms 4hr 10mins..25km/p-hr av. speed.

Hilly ride - I ground my way over some of the climbs and got lost too - part of the fun of cycling eh !

I started in cloudy humid weather then towards the end the Sun came out and KEPT the heat HIGH !...wen thru tons of water today - though the chunky-choc & and a flap jack was just what the stomach ordered ! ;)

40 miles, second longest ride I've ever done, so quite impressed with myself...can feel it on my sitbones tho, which is a bit worrying at this stage as I haven't got time to experiment with a different saddle

Only downside was yet another puncture, quick waterstop and picked up a hawthorn thorn, fortunately a very nice cyclist came along and fixed it, must have looked very much like damsels in distress . Took him 10mins when it would have taken us about an hour -thanks again Mr Mystery Man!!!! Got enough pressure back in the tyre to make it the 3 miles to the bikeshop, got back tyre pumped up properly and those horrid barends ripped off - just didn't get on with them, and treated bike to some new grips at the same time, then my friend hammered the credit card in there, had a lovely lunch, came home, had a sandwich, and went out for another short ride straight away, so all in all a successful day!!!

Went to Lincoln today. Sort of went the wrong way, i though it was said we were going right, but we were going straight on.
So we ended up doing 94miles today. Was going to try and do 100miles, but i got some cramp in my calf so i came home.
Alwell, always another time. Got an average speed of 18.32mph with it aswell.
We had a rat run between the group, the dart to the side andhit a rider on his ankle and then fall over and roll on the floor, i didnt run over it.
Very good day today, i'm pleased i managed to do the ride and get a high average speed.
Watching the race was good aswell. Felt sorry for the riders that dropped out. Wasnt a huge amount that finished it.
Back into 3rd place on cyclogs:biggrin:

74 miles and 4216 feet of climbing today. Went to the Ponderosa (café on top of the Horseshoe Pass), but decided to chuck in a climb up Worlds End, too. Didn't realise the climb up to the Ponderosa (from the coast) was a cinch compared with Worlds End!
I went out very early, on the road by 06:55, so it was a great day in terms of traffic.
But I really need to work on getting some weight off before tackling Worlds End again!

Dave.

Joe,
Are you doing the Great Notts Bike Ride this year? they've added a 100 mile sportive along with the usual 50 and 18 milers. I believe the route follows the normal path to Newark then heads off north toward Lincoln. I can't do it this year, it's my little brothers 40th on that day so I'll be drunk in York.:thumbsdown:

25 mile TT this morning, 45 miles with riding to the start and back and and a bit of a warmup/down at each end.

Only the second 25 I've ever done. Bit sore after, I've just ordered a new saddle. One of them with the extra-long padded nose.

1:04:48 (12 seconds inside my target, so very happy)

Legs felt tired right from the off tho', reckon if I hadn't done a 10 on Thursday I mighta gone better.
