63.49miles done yesterday. When i was at the front the guy next to me had a carbon PlanetX bike. Nice looking bike. Kept being told to slow down though, i only realised when we were going into a headwind chatting and i turned around and saw for some reason we were slightly ahead.
We got filmed aswell by someone from Trent Uni as part of a project, we had to go round a section twice and he was standing at the top of the hill filming. He wanted to know if there was anyone training for the Olympics coming out.
Ended up with 3 very fast riders at the end and did about 5miles with them doing 26-27mph, and did surprising well.

Had a blissful 60 miles to York and back today with the brother in law on the world's heaviest mountain bike. He did really well. The weather was perfect and the lanes lines with baby rabbits and chaffinches. One of those really wonderful rides that make you love cycling more than ever.

Looks like a good thread

I didn't manage to get out on Saturday or Sunday (Saturday is usually ride day for me) but as the weather was looking OK, I went out today. I reckon I got the clothing just right (arm warmers as I was out early, with shorts and short sleeve shirt with gillet on top). Went out to North Wales and did around 60 miles, a lot of it fairly hilly (2837 feet ascended).
Not one of my fastest trips, I was thwarted by my favourite café in North Wales becoming the focus of some kind of family fun day (couldn't get near it) and finally by The Eureka being closed, which is usually my refuel stop before heading to home.
No such thing as a bad ride, approx 4000 calories burned and I've earned my beer tonight

Dave.

Went out saturday am - 26 miles in 1h.17m - flying, really good weather.... had a good 35 mph sprint between two sets of lights on the way home.....

Escaped the rain on Sunday, we drove down to the in-laws caravan near Prestatyn - on the beach with the kids - dry by the time we got there, then ended up in Llandudno today (Mon)- Victorian weekend - loads of vintage faiground rides, cars, trucks, even chitty chitty bang bang... good day out, lots of sun, bit sun burnt. Bad thing is it took over two hours to do 25 miles back to Prestatyn, then a quick pack up, and then another 1 hour 45 to get home... 70 miles.....not done that many hours in my car since I left my last job in May 07.... my feet ache !!

Bang went driving down economically - managed about 45 mpg according to the computer - that's now 36 mpg with all the traffic...bugger (and a quick dash down the last 40 miles home)

Seen's it's my thread  i can go OT, with fossy
no ride for me today, drove over to Hereford...got 50mpg out of my Vectra 1.8...steady 65 - 70 mph motorwaydriving.
It pees me off that the emissions rate for it are heavy, so i'll get clobbered for the road tax next year, but i do drive economically...probably more so than a chav in his 1.1 Saxo.

Back to topic....i was envious of several riders i saw in the rolling hills near Ross on Wye and Hereford. Fairly nice weather.....i'm envious

Did not manage to get out on the bike this weekend but managed to strip it down, re-assemble and re-lube and its purring like a kitten. Bring on the good weather this week for some decent mileage.

Night Train

Maker of Things
I finally got the bike (and me) back into a ridable condition and decided to go for a quick spin. Two minutes from my door and a suit in a car pulls out of a car park on my right, turning right on to a one way road, and almost takes me out. Idiot didn't even look until I was waving my right leg over his bonnet to save it hitting his bumper.

On the way back and a pedestrian walks out into the road, looking in my direction, and almost clips my elbow.

Now, where are my car keys....

Oh the sun , the joy
Steady 20 miles today, included a couple of 'sprints' up a local hill with a transmitter tower at the top. The hills not that big by most standards, but its a big as it gets round here  38 mph on the way down..thats as fast as it gets here as well
No cars to speak of...nice, uneventful sunny ride.

Wasn't planning to ride today as Mrs A had plans for me, but wa hey! the jobs list was shelved by her good self and I was let out to play. Shade over twenty miles in glorious sunny weather with a welcome cooling breeze. Pushed on a bit today as I have a long(er) ride set up for the weekend and I want to be in form. Felt good on return.

commuted today 15 miles round trip, most excellent  then my neighbour arrived home at 3.30 and we went out for another 32 miles in wonderful weather, legs a bit tired now but i'm well happy xx(:biggrin:

i'll have to see how my legs feel before i decide whether to commute for tomorrow's afternoon shift at work, currently i've done 132 miles since saturday, stoked is an understatement xx(:biggrin:

blimy..i missed this thread...here is my ride today:

I got up determined to start with some serious riding in the run up to my summer tour. I loaded up the bike (two rear panniers and a bar bag, half of what i will be carrying) and set off to Saffron Walden in Essex. I had planned to stop over at the youth hostel but changed my mind when I got there and rode home.
I left at 11am this morning and arrived home at 7pm. Total distance just 85 miles (136km). I did stop for an hour for lunch and another 30 minutes rest in the park in Saffron walden though. The wind was the biggest 'feature ' of this ride, relentless. Nice sunny day though. My legs are killing me now though....dunno how I am going to manage 100km ever day in the summer....I dont think I will be able to ride at all tomorrow, let alone do it all again

Went out Saturday and managed 119 miles on a loop around Banbury including Edge Hill and Hook Norton (alas no visit to the brewery xx(). Fooled by the cloud when I departed: a bit of sunburn on one of my arms.
