Another 15 miles round the Mow Cop loop.

Sun was shining, felt really strong, absolutely convinced I had thrashed my PB.....

2 minutes slower. Whats all that about?! :becool:

Gutting innit
On a fairly windy ride the other week, i adopted an aero position and fairly flew against the wind on the second leg of my ride.:thumbsup:
Gonna be a good time here....

Fat chance, just the same times  I must have lost a lot of time on the outward leg..more than i realised.

I had some little kids on mtbs trying to race me in chezza yesterday
they were on quite nice jump-style MTBs like my mate's kona and were trying to duck their heads down behind the stem to be aerodynamic, shouting 'let's do it!' i glanced at them and said "...pedal!" ...cue grunts of exhaustion. ;) they were loving it tho'

Went out Saturday and managed 119 miles on a loop around Banbury including Edge Hill and Hook Norton (alas no visit to the brewery ;)). Fooled by the cloud when I departed: a bit of sunburn on one of my arms.
I went out Sunday before last for 89miles put plenty of sun spray on my biceps, I usually burn there but it was my lower arms that got burnt. I went out for again on Monday, which turned out to be 85 miles and put plenty of sun spray on my arms, they were fine; it was my calves that got burnt that time

Although they'll never sustain the speed over a distance, i was riding home one evening at 16 mph ish, and a teenager on a BMX came from a side street some way in front of me.
I maintained my 16 ish mph, while he squirted on the pedals, built up speed, then freewheeled...and carried on doing this for about a mile.

He genuinely surprised me, ickle wheels, small gearing, horrible position on the bike....that he could even get to that speed, let alone maintain it for a while. Then he just swooped off down another road, looking non the worse for wear.
'Chapeau' to the BMX rider

I didn't go for a cycle today as I seemed unusually tired on the cycle last night and in general so my proposed 40 miler will be tomorrow and still looking forward to it.

I get kids trying to race me sometimes but I would be wary of things sometimes as I've had kids descend like locusts chasing along swearing and trying to throw punches in such situations that seemed to be just friendly tomfoolery initially. Thankfully in those situations they seemed to get knackered after a quarter of a mile.

Steady ride with no a dodgy computer tonight, dont know the distance (maybe 18 miles) but while it was working, i was clocking 19 mph on the flat without too much effort with no appreciable wind.
Now ive just got to sustain that for more that 15 minutes :biggrin::biggrin:

Peterborough Panthers speedway meet tonight, more cars than i would have believed.

Did a loop of the Gower with a mate tonight before the rain came down. He's trying to break 50 mins to a particular spot on the route. So far he's knocked over 6 mins off his initial time over the last few weeks and he'll get there in a couple of weeks I believe, because we got within a minute and a half tonight. Chapeau mon amie.
