Intended to do several hours out in the glorious sunshine...first ride of the year without arm or knee warmers! Unfortunately a ride partner's chain and rear derailleur cage snapped off after 30km so I had to go home and collect the car to get him.
By the time I was back the traffic was up and I wasn't going to fight through it again so I jumped on the rollers outside for 30 mins then went for an 8km run.

It was also the first outing for my nicely cleaned frame with new components, bar tape and matching Hudz.

60 miles in the pitch dark is fun  I went on one of the club night runs tonight, apparently we went a new route through the moorfoot hills (3454ft of climbing, 1322ft max). They boys set a cracking pace, I got dropped after about 45 miles; I think they waited for me in one village but I was in TT mode and missed them . About 5miles later I was at the end of the A68 (well the end for bikes) I glanced at my computer as there were now street lights, 18.1mph  and by the time I'd got home it had only fallen to 17.8mph despite the numerous red lights. I got one idiot at a bus stop throw a stone or something, ah well that's his problem; every motorist, even in the city was great

PS I think I deserved that sticky bun; it was gone before I finished the post

Just back from a quick 40 on my new Michelin pro 3's. Made a difference, faster smoother and no puncture fairy visit. Sunny as I left, 200yds down the road it clouds over and gets cold and windy...hey ho:laugh:

26.71 mile for the commute today (there & back combined)
first one of the year
the turbo and weekend rides paid off
quite cold, but quite nice too
kept a good pace, not bad with stops and traffic
averaged 16mph
quite pleased indeed.

Only the lightest of breezes, the roads seemed quieter than normal . Lovely. Plus I saw my first squirrel of the year in Roseburn Park, as well as the heron in the Water of Leith by Roseburn Park, and a fox who took a long time to decide whether he should run away from me on the Roseburn Path.

All was right with the world, even though I was lacking in a bit of energy after being ill on Wed night / all through yesterday with a stomach bug.
