Another good ride today. Watched a bird of prey (kestrel? reddish back with darker wings) hovering over a field, then it got mobbed by a pair of crows who were hassling it for ages until they all flew out of view. Impressive sight though!

decided to ride home along the macclesfield canal. mud, mud and more mud. and that's just what i hosed off the bike…

First outing on the new bike... cut short 2 miles in, upon hearing a ping and looking down I was met with the sight of my chain busted in half & dangling on the floor
Happened right in front of the Windmill @ Clapham Common, where a load of uber-fit types were assembling for their weekly Army cadet style training
Was only about a mile from home though so so great hassle to walk back through the common pushing this troublesome new beast (I think I am going to call the new bike Luthor).

obviously not radway green garden centre then. took forever to deliver pretty poor fare, hygiene not what it might be and teapots that pissed all over the tables. still, at least they were cheap. i really hate over-long café stops when you're just sitting there waiting to get going again.
