Can't for the life of me understand why you were not indoors watching Manchester United win yet another trophy Ian...:becool:

(or did you make it back in time? I understand that your team struggle to gain recognition on the sports field and I thought..etc...)

Good ride again - well done. Me working. Envious.

First ride out today as a new CC member with ColinJ (chatterbox!) over hebden bridge way, always plenty of hills around here but very enjoyable and good company always helps. Did about 45 miles nice and steady.

Did a 43.4 miler today down in wild west Wales. The Daffodil Ride.

Based in Pendine, we started at sea level, but by the end we accumulated well over 3000ft. A mini Autumn Epic if you like.

View down over Pendine Sands, scene of many a World Land Speed Record.

View over to Gower Peninsular and Worms Head.

An hour later. And we're almost ready for the 0.5 mile 20% climb you can just see the start of on the right of the pic. It did ease out to 12% for another couple of miles or so!

Fairweather cresting the last big climb, out of Meidrim in a single drag of 900ft in 2 miles or so.

Fairweather deciding that its a bit warm for all those layers.

A very welcome cake stop! We were joined by Tony, on the left, for the rest of the ride. So "Hello" Tony, if you are reading this! The guy on the right in the Pembrokeshire Velos club gear had only one leg! His false one was very "hi-tech"

Didn't have much time for taking any more pics as the terrain didn't allow me any chance to get too far ahead of the boys. But I did crack 50 m.p.h. at last - 50.9 to be exact. Though my joy was short lived as Fairweather hit 51.6 m.p.h.! ;)

Total climbing 3,918ft. Max gradient 21%.

Finished in 3 hours, 1 minute after starting, 3hrs 1min! Typical, I knew that extra slice of cake would slow me down!

The Daffodil was more of a bush of nettles!!! Having lived in Welsh Wales all my life I can't remember there bieng that many steep hills????. It was, as one of the Tenby chaps said "a ride of two halves" - I quite agree - half of me wished I had at least a 27 tooth and the other half wished I hadn't started!! I think that's what he meant?

Great fun though, especially when we went down the steep ones - imagine a mile or so of billiard table smooth road where you can see the whole road and realise there are no cars in sight - the boy Lard looked over his shoulder and shouted "this is glorious" - then came another damn climb!.

Lovely pics Lards, a heavily pencilled in date for next year, I fancy. Pendine's clearly close enough to be used as a training ground, too.

Alas! I couldn't be there to share your pain and joy, I had my own personal pain (2 wisdom teeth removed) and the joy of discovering that I've put five pounds in weight on in three days.

I wouldn't mind, but I wasn't even trying.

Sunday 1st March.

Out to York with Bokonon to meet up with a bunch of 'East-Yorkshireites'

Rode up to just before the North Yorkshire Moors. Had a nice stop off in a pub and then tea at 'Jack the Lads' cafe and back to York and then Leeds.

Just over 100miles.
Good day.

Sunday 1st March

A relatively quick (for me) 100km from Knaresborough to Pocklington via York and back with a break at Pocklington for tea, bacon butty and a chat with a pal.

Nice weather and probably could have got away with shorts.

Had a rather windy ride to Uni today but was pleased when I overtook someone (this doesn't happen too often).

On the way home a chocolate labrador ran out into the road in front of me. I stopped the trike and hared off in pursuit after the dog, who was weaving around different lanes of a fairly busy road and who wouldn't respond to my 'nice doggie' blandishments. Eventually the dog got itself into a cul-de-sac and as he turned and came towards me I pretended I had food in my pocket (he was a labrador, after all) and I was able to catch him. There were two phone numbers on his collar, both of which went to voicemail, so I left a message, called Uncle James and he came and picked the dog ('Bailey') up whilst I cycled home.

Lucy Locket our Weimaraner was deeply unimpressed that we'd brought another dog home, especially when he ate some of her lunch, but 15 minutes later his owner phoned up. Apparently the dog had run off on a walk and the owner had been looking for him for some time and was most relieved we'd found him and kept him safe. Owner appeared with a thankyou bottle of wine, Bailey went home and Lucy was relieved to have her house back. I had had to cut short my ride by 4 miles which was a bit annoying...

Just 50k today, tried a hard 20k in the middle but I was slow - but still good to try and work hard.
