Sunday I did 50-odd miles around the lanes N of Preston on the blue Yates (a masterpiece in steel, must take a pic) via Scorton, Knott-end-on-Sea, Eccleston etc. Had an extended stop at the bar bit of The Priory Cafe in Scorton, took time to read the paper, have a very indifferent veggieburger wi nice chips and two excellent pints of local ale (Bowland Brewery Nicky Nook ). Tried some bridleways but the Open Pro 23mm on the front was easily defeated by deep mud so went back to tarmac.

Did 75km this afternoon with 1km climbing. I felt good and flew up the climbs much faster than normal. Then I went straight out and did a 10.5km run....insane.

I've had a doggy experiance as well not quite as noble and cutesy as AH I'm afraid.

I was gingerley edging towards a group of dog walkers, guess where they were standing? Yes on the cycle path, very slowly edged through the middle avoided two jack russels and a retriever and then the third jack Russel went and ruined it all by throwing it's self under my front wheel:ohmy:

my Front wheel was right on top of it and it was squirming about and yelping away!!!

One woman said OMG the other (who I don't think really saw) said 'oh he has no road sence'!!!!!!

I just smiled and went on my merry way.

2 hours this evening on quiet lanes, it got very chilly and frost was forming on the road (until I burned over it obviously ;)). I had planned on a bit longer but I'm a big jessie and headed home for some hot food instead.

I just did 14.5 miles as a lovely evening ride to a music practice and back.

I returned via a country lane section that I don't do that often but I thought would be a nice change. Saw loads of rabbits, failed to see several potholes, but today my bike's working really well, far fewer squeaks and rattles, and the moonlight and stars were lovely to behold.

At one point I saw my right turn with the signpost at the last minute and did a fast sweeping turn... through a muddy puddle and into a ploughed field. Oops! The signpost was actually a post for a public footpath. I reversed out (getting my shoes muddy) and carried on.

It was an amazingly still and quiet night, a huge contrast to yesterday's force 8 winds making the roof tiles rattle.

I didn't like the snow....slipping down a steep hill out of Winterslow, Wilts, on a Trek 1.2 road bike, brakes on hard all the way down....managed not to fall off mercifully. I couldn't do that MTB stuff!

Just the usual short commute again today, but another fast fast ride in this morning...got a good draft off a bus again
Good bike out again today..reaised too late they'd gritted the roads again last night  The trouble is, once you've had the joy of riding it again for a few days, you dont want to get the hack out again.

Pleasant commute. I had to add extra distance to get to the Royal Mail depot at the Gyle. Cool, but not too cold. I kept the pace down as I have my first 4th cat race on Sat so tonight was just a leg turning over ride.

Almost perfect weather tonight...not too cold to start with, and you can push along without overheating.
Sadly, no other commuters to 'race'...why do we all see a cyclist in the distance, and immediately take it as our honour bound duty to get past them . No need to answer that one...its just the way it is.

Once in a while, it does get done to you of course , last night a guy on a (decent) MTB passed me going hell for leather...fair play to him, he was really going. For my own pride, i can ony hope he went round a corner somewhere, and puked up his lungs from exertion, while i can maintain that speed for 40 miles
Too knackered to go far tonight, just a short sprint for a few miles past a multitude of slow moving traffic
