the last few weeks have been the fastest I've ridden ever, minor up and front on the seat has made a hooge difference, cruising at 22/3 now and hitting 26 on the flat when chasing the very odd faster rider

my sprint uphill (slightly) onto London Bridge reached 28mph today

working on getting over Bow flyover at a min speed of 20mph, that's a work in progress

the warmer weather mean regular tops so much more pleasant, and the promise of lighter evenings!

it's a good time after all that cold weather

Up hill to my physiotherapist, 2.5 miles. Walked up some bits, just too hard. Average speed, 3 mph. Not a record.

Coming back from my physiotherapist, 2.5 miles. Down hill nearly all the way. Average speed 6 mph. Had to slow down at one point to allow suicidal dog to practise her endgame. (She lives). Leg giving out on last bit.

Now, that's what I call a ride.

I have a quick 10 miler which I use to build stamina. It's 5 miles uphill followed by 5 miles downhill. To be fair there is an 800 yard stretch where it flattens and drops slightly. There was a bastard of a headwind this afternoon, and it took forever to do the climb, usually I can maintain 8 or 9 mph up the slog, but today was down into first gear at the slowest point. When I turned around though, I got a fantastic ride back. At the steepest point I was in top and unable to keep up with the pedals, tucked and head down I only bottled it when the MTB threatened to do a tank slapper. A check on the computer shows I had been going at 42.1 mph at the fastest point. Let's hear it for wind!

Did an extra long commute home and went over the 'alps of W Lothian' from Linlithgow to Livi and then home along the A71 to the Calder Road - about 21 miles in all. Some of those climbs are sharp, but thankfully quite short. My GPS tells me I hit 17% on one of them. Was quite pleased with a 19.5 mph average, but the tail wind for some of route was a help.

A few miles 'round the block' this evening. And old age must be creeping up on me: I had cycled a mile then realised I had left my drink bottle in the kitchen. So I went home to get it. A few miles up the road I went to take a drink and it was not there, and I thought it had bounced out on a rough section of road. So I just carried on without the bottle and took the same road back home, but there was no sign of the bottle. On getting home Mrs Noodley said "you left your bottle" I have no idea what I did when I went home the first time but it was not what I had intended to do.

Is your injury better Noodley ?

Yes, thanks. Still a wee bit sore, but I managed a few hills into the wind tonight without too much pain. I'll just need to toughen up a bit!

I've no idea what I averaged on my short commute home (4ish miles) but I was straight into that wind and unfortunately I was on the un aerodynamic hybrid.

60miles, very windy out there. I had to go back for my helmet as I managed to leave the house without it, took me a while to work out what felt odd!

Someone should probably do a helmet poll..i never wear one any more. (Got one, but its not been used in about 2 years)
The irony is, when i used to, it would be on a country ride where i'd maybe see 20 cars in 20 miles. When i commute (mosty at rush hour), i never ever wore a helmet. Where was the logic in that

Usual commute today...we need more commuters in Peterborough. There's just so few cyclists to hunt down and whip their asses xx( Pleasant enough out there, albeit a bit blowy.
