80 miles for me, and young Ilovebikes.
Attended the Bromley cyclists ride of a 35 mile loop from Pluckley Kent (12 people including Auntie Helen of this parish). Then when that was done, said goodbye to the Bromley peeps, then off to Tonbridge for another 25 miles, said goodbye to Helen there, then me & Ilovebikes cycled back home..hard work and hilly...
A beautiful day for cycling, nice and sunny, got quite warm, but a little cold towards the end of the ride.

Eighty nine miles today on my first calendar Audax in the company of ColinJ, Colly, Calum and Trio. Saw Ben a few times as well but he was going quicker than our group.

It was the first outing of the year for yellow socks

There was a chap on the ride seventy eight years old, has been fighting or fought cancer for several years and has a jump start for his heart fitted after many years of pace makers. A couple of folk in the pub knew him and said he could drop dead any time. Chapeau!

Did about 14 miles early this morning with the winter longs & jacket on, but was far too warm by the time I got back home, so wore my shorts for the commute to work around midday. Can't believe I was wearing shorts in February, must be the first time (as an adult anyway:biggrin:) 46 miles in total, so not as much as some of you lucky guys today

Another loop via Bibury (one of my favourites) and pleased to find the Trout Farm cafe open, so after eating my sandwich I splashed out on a small pot of tea and a delicious ginger cream biscuit. Sun was out, people about, all well with the world. 47.77 miles in all. As usual on this route, a headwind most of the way there and a brisk, wind-assisted return.

This was also the first 'day ride', unladen, on the new bike (which I rode 165 miles home last weekend, with luggage, from Norfolk); the much-customised, metallic black Kinesis Crosslight 4T with flat bars/bar ends and XT. The mechanic at Fatbirds described it as: '...an unconventional spec, but one which seems to work', to which I could only reply: 'That's because I'm an unconventional cyclist'.

I like that LBS...Hunstanton i assume. Nice guys and they've got some nice kit in there.

Yes, Hunstanton. Very helpful in getting the bike fitted for me and gave me a lift from Kings Lynn station. They did get some of the spec wrong though, despite three telephone conversations to confirm, but were able to correct most of it on the day (not all). My advice to others would be to confirm spec in writing and request to be contacted before any changes considered by them.

a recce for the London to Brighton fnrttc, taking pics of holes in the road to badger the councils with (they'll do nowt, so my luminous paint get an outing). Anyway - a bit of a bottle job going down Reigate Hill, which proved to be useful, as, taking the left curve after the sharp righthander I happened across a queue of traffic waiting for the level crossing.......and, another two miles of Lonesome Lane has been resurfaced!

Which means that the most delicious cycling road on all of the planet bar none, a sensuous, swirling smooth track, full of curves just waiting to be taken advantage of, is now even better, even better than before. Apexes were clipped, and my head was down for anything pretending to be a downslope. Each hollow was ironed out with gear changes - no standing, no rocking, no shifting in the saddle, only the play of g-forces which Floreana, my bike of bikes, slid through like a knife through mayonnaise. Even User10571's Bend went well (it doesn't always) - right over to the opposite side of the road before clipping the hedge with my left shoulder, and straightening on my side of the road (daytime rules apply), losing only two gears in the process. I am a happy man.

Had an unexpectedly pleasant ride today - I was expecting to get wet at some point on my perambulations around the Yorkshire/Cumbria/Lancashire border areas but the sun came out and pretty much stayed out the whole 4 + hours and I had a good tail wind on the outward journey. The return was a more complex route so the wind direction wasn't so much of a issue as it would have been if I'd gone the other way round.
Nice to be warm and (fairly) dry in February. Didn't even need the footwarmers today.

56 miles to Tulibody, I'd meant to go further but a strong head wind sapped my energy so I didn't bother. Plus my computer is malfunctioning (I hope) and it was a bit alarming when readings would suddenly fall to zero; that's a bit demotivating but it probably just needs new batteries.
