I had my first clipless moment in Otley town centre.

Only my second clipless ride and over I go. No injuries to moi apart from a grazed elbow. The shifters on my handlebars were well skewed though. Luckily I'd fallen off outside Chevin Cycles, so I dragged my sorry self in, they fixed the bike and checked her over, and gave me a cup of coffee too. What total stars!!!

It was always going to happen, I guess.

Set out to do 62 miles but only managed to do 31 !
Maybe the notion of doing 9 laps of Richmond Park was not a good one. Also it was a trifle windy and blocked by large metal boxes at various points.
Oh well , back home to my large box of doughnutsand some coffee

Woooo! Did a solo ride today - 10x 5km laps near campus just in case I had a problem. My hand felt pretty good and my legs did well, averaging 28km/h on a lumpy course. I went out in full CC kit including warm jacket, but after a couple of laps the sun came out and I was dying to take it off. Looks like I'll venture further out tomorrow.

30 lumpy miles - rode up The Wizard (Alderley Edge) in 39 x 19 to test my shoulder out - hmm - could feel torso and neck muscles pulling to compensate.... it's aching like hell now...

Surprisingly windy up here - got the bike out..oh no wind, great...got out....er no....20-25 mph steady Westerly.... No sun here, about 8-10c

It was a windy club run this morning but enjoyable and then a cycle to my folks for a shower, the Granton area has no water. I'm not sure about the mileage as my computer on the blink, I must need a new battery, I'd guess 45mile club run + 17.5miles to my folks place.

Edit:
Oh I forgot I managed to pick up a nice gash in my leg, me being stupid again put my saddle up by 5mm and tightened my left clip. I'd forgot and wasn't used to clipping in with this set up, missed and ended up with a pedal in the shin, ouch. Thankfully it only stung for a few minutes.

Edit: Just put my ride into Bikely it was 69 miles a mere splash in the ocean compared so some other folks rides.

Brighton Bognor chichester and back to brighton , now i'm watching the sunset ...can just about make out the IOW......took the Bianchi....fast ride....but got a puncture and had to stop for 15 mins to fix the dam thing.....to many layers,I was sweating & hot all ride..should have taken the shorts!....took the A2589 (?) the main road anyway....bit busy...but Sussex drivers are angels compared to Essex drivers. Bit bored now...was going to go stone skimming on th ebeach but it just got dark.

52 miles for me. Out and back, to take advantage of a tail wind home. No such luck, metcheck lied! Was really suffering, and trying out a new saddle didn't help. (Toupe 130 - love the shape but god my sit bones are sore!).
An afternoon nap was required!

I need to change my toupe, the bike came with one but they arent too comfortable - even the pros dont use them. Went to the LBS and saw some nice fizik ones so might have to splash out next weekend.

Another loop via Bibury (one of my favourites) and pleased to find the Trout Farm cafe open, so after eating my sandwich I splashed out on a small pot of tea and a delicious ginger cream biscuit. Sun was out, people about, all well with the world. 47.77 miles in all. As usual on this route, a headwind most of the way there and a brisk, wind-assisted return.

This was also the first 'day ride', unladen, on the new bike (which I rode 165 miles home last weekend, with luggage, from Norfolk); the much-customised, metallic black Kinesis Crosslight 4T with flat bars/bar ends and XT. The mechanic at Fatbirds described it as: '...an unconventional spec, but one which seems to work', to which I could only reply: 'That's because I'm an unconventional cyclist'.
