Snow, what snow??

Got a nice 40 miler done. There was a freezing cold headwind for too much of the time, but the snow hasn't arrived in my area - yet!!

Over the weekend i did my first tour of the year.
We set of from Brum on Saturday morning and took the train to Landywood in Staffordshire. Our ultimate destination was Ludlow. We just had one great big climb out of the severn gorge at Ironbridge and through Much Wenlock. It was cold but the sun was out and we had a tailwind.
On Sunday we again had one big climb back to Barnt Green where we got the train. Unfortunately it was 20 miles long and into a snowstorm.
The whole tour was 100 miles but my legs gave out at 80 following a rather intense gym workout on Thursday evening. Oh well, better luck next time!

Further to this mornings post, tube out at work...theres more repairs than i care to mention ;) New tube
Couldnt figure out why it seemed such hard work before i punctured, then when i took the wheel off and spun it...eeek, graunchy bearings (cheap wheels i put on). Strip, grease and adjust. Quick clean and lube...then commute home on snow covered cyclepaths in a snow shower, with one or two squirrely moments
Thank the lord i didnt take the roadbike.

Had a really good snow ride this evening. Was fantastic fun out there. Unfortunately there were a lot of cheesed off motorists that'd apparently spent 3-4hrs getting past and then out of town.

Stay in the fresh snow, stay out of wheel tracks, stay in low gear...and pray  Its a good workout, you work twice as hard as normal. Not many commuting by bike this morning.
3 to 4 inches of snow here, pandemonium outside work, everyones getting stuck.

Snow !!! Pah, i laugh in the face of snow

So who's wimped out today ;)
Shortish commutes for the last coupe of days...not too bad today, just wet and yucky on the roads, and near impossible to ride anywhere else. Compacted slush is near impossible to stay upright on. Reasonaby mild tho, didnt seem to feel any cold.
Got a troubesome rear derailleur, difficult to change gears. New cable fitted today at work....and no wonder when i eased out the old from its casing :?:...grimy, rusty and sticky. Just a bit of twiddling to do, but its already a lot better.

Did a ride in the snow the other day. And went out Thursday for 20 miles, But haven't been out since due to that killer virus called man flu!!

Wanted to go out today as it was nice, but had to do a homer instead (Mechanics speak for fixing cars outside work), and then I had to prep my van for a trip from Cornwall to Liverpool and back in a day and sort the Speccy out for Monday!!!

Not going out tomorrow as I'm doing the above journey to Liverpool and back, looking like Monday now, but I'll be back on the slicks with my new Mavic rims!

A very short ride (less than 5 miles) to a lbs left the bike there to get the BB seen to. I was hoping my suspicions about the condition of my BB was wrong and I could go for a longer ride so I wore full winter cycling kit, bib longs, soft shell jacket, overshoes etc. The amount of daft comments I got on the walk home "have you forgotten the bike", particularly from Welsh rugby fans
