Here is another shot. They were all soaring happily together and then I noticed that one of them looked a bit smaller than the others and it took a dislike to one of the Buzzards.

A truly beautiful sight. Thanks for sharing.

The bird has been identified as a Peregrine Falcon. As I said before I have seen them all soaring happily together in the past but this time it must have been in a stroppy mood. It was on Saturday afternoon that I was at the bottom of the garden trying out a pair of old binocs that I have been cleaning. I looked up to see a buzzard soaring high up. I checked it with the binocs to make sure it wasn't a gull when the Peregrine appeared into shot. I watched it flying directly overhead almost falling over stuff in the garden when it folded it's wings in and dropped like a stone towards an estate behind me. I didn't see it fly up again. The Peregrine has been busy in the past few days, flying early in the morning afternoon and evening.

I would just like to mention that the birds that the birds that I am seeing are usually the size of the thunder bugs that appear on a hot day in summer. It is their behaviour that draws my attention and the use of some sort of magnification helps in identifying them.

Wow! I would love to see a sight like that at the bottom of my garden.
Yesterday was the first time I've counted seven cubs. I'm not sure where the den is but I think it must be close as they visit most sunny mornings. I've deliberately left the top 20 feet or so of my garden to nature and fenced it off to stop my dogs getting access, so it's possible they spend time up there. You can see in the photo where they have enlarged a hole in the bottom of the rotten fence, big enough for them but too small for the dog (who is not too bothered anyway). I'll fix it once they've matured, which won't take long at the rate they're growing.

Not nearly as charming as @newfhouse's lot, but I did see a fox this morning whilst walking the dog. Didn't look as big as the usual vixen or the old dog fox but was on their patch (hers, certainly) so I assume that either one's been replaced or it's one of last year's cubs.

'Our' house martins returned from Africa today! both nests that I put up a while back seem to be occupied (back and front of house). lots of excited chirruping going on from inside the nests- I think all sorts might be going on in there!

Here's a pic from a year or so back, of the nest at the front of the house.
