I have been watching a large group of gulls , Lesser Black Backed, and Herring gulls for the past 10 minutes swooping low over the tops of trees and over the roofs of buildings in my neighbourhood, up to no good I suspect. They definitely scared a few Wood Pigeons and Jackdaws.
Whilst gazing out of the window I saw the Peregrine flying low and then it started soaring, I finally gave up when it became a very tiny speck in the distance.

Grey Heron? Having pulled it's neck in.......

Like that cricketer who's name defeats me.

Watched a spectacular dogfight between a curlew and a crow at lunchtime. I can only assume the curlew was defending its nest. They were a couple of fields away up towards the trigpoint on Rocking Stone hill. The crow was seen off pretty emphatically. Curlews are pretty agile given their size!

Pretty sure it isn't a grey heron, I snapped one of them a few pages back, this was much smaller and had a black and white head.

Cricket - Graham Swan?

The one a few pages back might not be a grey heron, to be honest if it isn't a magpie or a robin I am totally guessing

Whist cycling though Sutton Courtney, on the ncr5, I saw for the first time a male Peacock in flight, it was a wow moment.
Sorry no photo.

They're not very popular in County Durham at the moment - link
My landlords used to have a peacock. Can't remember what his original name was but he was rechristened Percy the Pervert as he used to fly up onto my roof and stare in through their bathroom window. I think it was one of their guests who renamed him.

On my 20 mile drive to work, 6am today...once into the fens, a regular sighting of a Buzzard, perched on some farm equipment only maybe 20ft from the road. See hin/her there quite regularly, really should start taking my camera.
Alongside the Ramsey Forty Foot drain, bordered by flat fen fields and not much else...a deer in the distance, mid sized, maybe 3 ft high to the shoulders, slim moderately long legs, darkish, prominent ears, but too distant for any real detail. Roe perhaps ?
The water authorites (and others ) have taken to putting up owl size boxes on some of their remote buildings, barn owls are a regular sight along the drain. This morning, a rusty red back of probably a kestrel was sat on the entrance on one such box on a Forty Foot drain pumping station.
