Can't match seeing hedgehogs ... but several lots of fresh poo has had me smiling.... (I was worried whether they would make it through the winter).

I think this picture might show the forked tail off better. The Buzzards tail when spread out is usually convex as opposed to concave of the Kite.

Even when riding home through sleet and rain there's is something very elegant about a lapwing. The puddle he's wading about in has got much larger over the last couple of days. He's in the same place every evening so I'm hoping that there is a nest nearby. When there's a chance of stopping to look without risking hypothermia I'll pop up with the binoculars for a better look.

Been a fair few bird watchers in Watermead Park this week, so I stopped and asked one tonight if a rare bird had turned up. A something Warbler I think he said. So if you want to spot it, they've all been hanging around the canal near the White Horse in Birstall

I feed my two dogs a raw diet, tonight they both left part of a chicken leg, I threw the left over chicken into the field at the back of my house. About 8.30pm we had not one but two fox come down through the fields to retrieve the chicken pieces, I love these lighter nights, so much to see.

Wood warbler, apparently. The LROS news site won't be reporting any more rarities as a result of some idiot using a recording to lure it:

"Due to reports received of an idiot playing recordings at the Birstall Wood Warbler site today, I shall no longer be putting out news either on this website or on Twitter of ANYTHING that's at all susceptible to disturbance by morons, whether by playing recordings to try and get a photo, or flushing the bird trying to get closer to it. The bird's welfare comes first at all times and if birders/photographers can't clean up their act, then you won't get to hear about these things, full stop. It doesn't matter whether the bird is breeding or on passage, it is not acceptable to disturb birds in this manner."

I've only once seen one locally, at Colwick Park in Nottingham about 8 years ago. They don't normally hang around in the East Midlands.

Yep, pretty sure that is what he said. Just Googled it and I saw two birds around there earlier this week that looked like it, but I am no expert they could have easily been something else.
