Came across this large fungi on a tree stump while out walking the dog today. Tree stump must have been best part of 3 feet across; so the largest part of fungus you can see is probably over a foot wide. No idea what it was mind. Unusual to me at least though 😳

Some sort of Bracket Fungus, but I'm not clever enough to know which one

The Fungi Coprinus comatus or so called shaggy ink cap, lawyer's wig or shaggy mane. About 20 of these have sprung up in the 'green zone' between our development and the road.

Grab a frying pan and some butter, fry them gently, job's a good un!
