Before cleaning my sabre saw for storage, I tipped the patio table to remove the standing water and inadvertently washed away a small furry bee. Probably did it a favour, as it ended up in a better position for drying and sunning itself. As it started flexing its wings and stretching and contracting its abdomen, I realised it was getting ready to fly off and fetched my camera. By the time I returned it had indeed flown away.
However, I think this is the same one, having come back to its previous position on the table. No idea of the species; just know it's not a bumble!

Please excuse poor photo, a screenshot from a video my son took when out riding today near Bristol today, not far from J18 of the M4. Not what you'd expect to see in England's leafy lanes.

I know it's not a flying centipede, but ...

the camera on the hood l of my car has a 1/30th second shutter speed. I guess this little bugger can flap it's wings 4 times within a 30th of second?

Put that on some websites and it'll be considered evidence of aliens.

The tree in the background has an impressive twist growth. Is it a fruit tree?

We are hopefully that when we go on Friday there will be some pups visible
I made a mistake about seeing pups a short while ago. They were common seal pups which are born earlier in the year - the grey seals have a later breeding season. I think it might be too early to see grey pups though there might be common seal pups if they're in the mix.
