I made a mistake about seeing pups a short while ago. They were common seal pups which are born earlier in the year - the grey seals have a later breeding season. I think it might be too early to see grey pups though there might be common seal pups if they're in the mix.

Yes grey seals have started to arrive at Donna knock with our binoculars we could see about 100+ that were waiting for the next high tide to bring them on to the area photographed according to the seal wardens so we're are hoping that the ones we saw yesterday might have had their cubs but either way fantastic to view and watch them .

Sat earlier today watching loads of Oyster catcher's and red shanks when all of a sudden an egret flew in and made a great belching kind of noise that had us both looking in disbelief.

Did you understand high tide to mean spring tide, which would be around the 15th, or just a regular high tide? I've not been to Donna Nook but maybe it's time to pay a visit there and stop over for a night. (I've been to Blakeney Point once and Horsey Gap several times.) I can do the Horsey return journey in a day but Donna Nook would be just that bit too far.

We understood it to be regular high tide.
We did horsey about 3 years ago and this is the second time to Donna knock which is far easier to get to the viewing area as it's only a short walk from the car park so well worth doing in my opinion.
Last time we came it was towards the end of December and there were loads of seals with cubs .

So fingers crossed for Friday.

Well we popped in on the way home today to see the seals and hopefully a few pups , but alas we were out of luck as yes more adult seals had arrived but all 30+ recorded pups were hidden from site .

According to the wardens we spoke to they were surprised about the lack of pups as well and wondered if the recent storm had any impact , so we are trying to organise another trip up in a few weeks for another visit .

Did watch a flock of golden plovers move around but way too far away for any pictures

OK, who's responsible for deflating that football? Was it you, Spike?

Looks to be about double the minimum hibernation weight!
