This afternoon on the footpath to Barafundle Bay. The water was gorgeous by the way:

For such an uncommon bird they're remarkably easy to observe. This one was letting me approach to about 10 feet. Sadly I seem always to have focused on a stray blade of grass - this was the closest to a sharp image of the bird I was able to achieve. Another time...

It's still a cracking photo though, you should be chuffed with it.

I couldn't get a photo (as usual) as getting up close to the workshop window scares them off, but our Goldfinches are back regularly now, shifting loads of Niger seed. There's even a couple of juvenile ones again too, which must be second brood.

Sitting in my first floor home office I hear a thump on the window. Thinking it was probably another bird strike I went to take a look. The window overlooks the roof of our ground floor extension and in the past birds have hit the window and been stunned or killed, coming to rest on the roof.

However, when I got to the window…

Hedgehog international rescue yesterday on my way to work to feed the critters.
The rescue centre confirmed its under weight, has the usual ticks and potentially blind which may explain why the poor boy was walking in circles in the middle of the road.
Hopefully he can be rehomed safely

Forgot to update on this rescue. Sadly the little mite is blind but thankfully he can live his days out in the rescue garden with no fear of any harm

It's a shame about the greenfinch but a bird has to eat.
