We saw a buzzy bee on our stroll earlier today first bumbly bee I have seen in 23

I had one land on my head this afternoon when I was out on my bike. It was as big as a cow!

Another nice surprise on a MTB wander...up the Woodhead Pass (not the busy road, the MTB trails nearby) and I saw off in the distance a large flock of small birds. Now this is unusual in the winter up here. There are still plenty of small birds like Robins etc but a big flock...no
I eventually got within about 50m and I could see that they were feeding on the Beech trees and there must have been more than 100 of them. Then I heard them calling....Siskins
They move around in sometimes large flocks and must have found a good food source. They will be on their way in the next month or two...they nest mainly in upland conifer plantations
