Since it's such a historic event I'd be open to the idea of travelling to London to see it first hand, were it know for the certainty that it will be totally rammed and a thoroughly horrible experience.

I have no interest in watching it on the TV or otherwise getting sucked into the media machine, so Monday will be just like any other day - maybe go for a ride, get some stuff done in the house, not-re-cable my Fuji as the bits won't have arrived by then..

Possibly. On the day of Diana's funeral, I went for a long ride to avoid it. I saw one car in about three hours! No cafes were open

I was waiting for the outrage at McDonalds closing
but then I noticed that they open again at 5 - so society is saved and just has to manage on its own for breakfast and lunch

not seen Pizza Hut announcement so maybe that is plan B
I suppose all those illegal ebikes will be buzzing (or whirring! ) their way all around

so - I can;t see going for a bike ride as being a major problem

Im not much of Royalist - but people saying horrible things about the queen is a step too far imo - at the end of the day its still someones mom.

However I did plan take advantage of the likely low traffic and go for a ride on Monday ? - lack of respect or okie dokie ?

What a weird country this must be for you to even feel the need to ask. Enjoy whatever non-harmful activity pleases you and pay no heed to prevailing opinions.

British Cycling, on balance, do not further the interests of cyclists.

They have apologised and issued new guidance but the damage is already done. Best ignored.

The whole city isn't going to be rammed, "just" the centre.

After the funeral she's being taken to Windsor, which I suspect will be along the A4, rather than the M4:

That might be a good chance to see something.

As for me, I want to see the chaos .

British Cycling are terrible, they should stick to looking after the sporting side of cycling, and keep their noses out of other aspects including how clubs are run.

If you need to join an organisation for insurance purposes Cycling UK is more in tune with cyclists IMO, there are others such as London Cycling Campaign (maybe not right title)
