The whole city isn't going to be rammed, "just" the centre.

After the funeral she's being taken to Windsor, which I suspect will be along the A4, rather than the M4:

That might be a good chance to see something.

As for me, I want to see the chaos .

why do you say not the M4?
wouldn't that be easier to marshall/guard?

(suppose Philip's journey and that of queen mum might offer clues but I have no idea what route they took)

ignore my other question - the beeb has now published the route.
you are pretty right.
I may cycle to near Cromwell Road to witness.

Im not much of Royalist - but people saying horrible things about the queen is a step too far imo - at the end of the day its still someones mom.

However I did plan take advantage of the likely low traffic and go for a ride on Monday ? - lack of respect or okie dokie ?

it's fine - go for a ride.

If you want to ride your bike then ride it.

Myself? I'm on the first day of a walking holiday with friends. We planned this 12 months ago and have no intention of changing plans or watching a funeral.

If I wasn't walking I'd be riding, probably a century to take advantage of the quiet roads.

Possibly. On the day of Diana's funeral, I went for a long ride to avoid it. I saw one car in about three hours! No cafes were open

I was mountain biking in the Pennines. I remember we stopped and had a moments silence. I wasn't that bothered but kept my mouth shut so as not to upset those amongst us who were.

Might have to tidy the garage out!!

I've not come across people saying horrible things about the Queen as a person, though taking shots at the institution of the monarchy and all that that entails is fair game whilst it's under the microscope. The reporting is very one sided.
I think like with many things, people should do what they feel is best. Some are very reverent, others less so. I think people should be allowed to spend the day as they see fit as long as it doesn't impact on others.
I have no love for any hereditary monarchy nor a President either, we might as well have a ceremonial goat, but I'm not about to spoil somebody else's moment of 'mourning' either.

Hard working, privileged, 96 year old mum dies - Funeral Monday.

As for cycling and the funeral, I may cycle out to west london to watch the queen pass.
Maybe even bow my head if I find the right spot at the right time.
Said as a republican.
Not saying you, but I have long been wary of folks getting nasty about the queen on a personal level.
For seems detached from the core issues of governance.

I will be riding my bike to and from work (supported housing) as usual for a Monday. Hoping to catch up with admin etc., might watch the proceedings whilst doing other stuff. My main concern Is will the Asian run takeaways be open for lunch or should I take a sandwich?

Well since I live just off the planned procession route and have to work Monday night, I'll be commuting by bike as usual. I can only image my local area being very busy with well wishers wanting to come and line the route, so anticipate heavy traffic throughout the day.

The stated aim (now) is that the route should allow as many people as possible to see the cortege passing, in an attempt to reduce the number who might otherwise be tempted to go and swell the queue for Westminster Hall.

Makes a certain amount of sense.

I expect to be cycling on Monday as I have done the same on most royal events in my lifetime. This explains why I found myself riding the Loire cycle path in early June.

I even missed Diana's funeral due to a prearranged weekend trip. I did offer to cancel this but the other group members wanted to carry on.
