On the contrary, I'd expect lube to quieten creaks - was certainly the case with my old cracked frame as applying oil or water to the crack shut it right up.

My Singlecross has started creaking- but it shuts up when it's wet. Was going to remove and clean BB threads but will have a little check around the frame too!

Plus, you'll always want some grease / lube on the seat tube to stop it seizing, and it could well be that it's creaking here because it's dry.
I did that as well as messing about with the saddle clamp. I'm not sure which change made the difference, but the creaking has now stopped! :okay:

Played with the Viner Mitus some more; there's now a front Ultegra derailleur on and I've swapped the Shimano 105 brakes for a new FSK SLK set that I've had sat around for a couple of years, plus brackets for SKS Raceblade Long mudguards. That meant cleaning out the gunk in the brake holes as well xx(

Unfortunately the thread on the rear mech hanger is damaged so I've ordered two replacements, otherwise an Ultegra one would be on there. That'll have to wait a few days.

Did what I should have done the first time around and installed the new freehub. Hopefully no more 24 neutrals for a while.

Put the axle back in the wrong way around just to give myself some practice taking it an and out again.

Spare rear wheel that came with my 'new to me' CX bike needed new bearings - I'd serviced both last week, but the rear ones were rough. Took some banging with my bearing extractor to get the drive side one out.

Next job was to service the SPD pedals on the CX bike - had to order the plastic tool for undoing the bearings (my other pedals are XT and they just need a spanner). Drive side was fine, but non-drive side was a bit rough as the bearing was too tight. Adjusted the cones and greased up.

Finally, another quick polish and a rinse off to get rid of the grease.

New Bell fitted. Feels a bit loose. It will probably fall off. Engineering isn't my forte.

deep clean of the cassette on the summer bike whilst cleaning in general and decided it looked manky enough to replace as it did have signs of wear and couldnt get clean , new chain too as that was at 75 %.
Indexing now redone as its a different brand but the 2 fastest gears i cant get 100% to my liking , rest of the cassette indexed smoothly which is annoying .

Cleaned up various parts and greased a few bearings. Not sure why this is on the bike but put it back on . Anyone ever had need of one ?
