Cat Food, my word it's got expensive (probably the same for dog food).

Pack of 40 pouches has risen from about £12 a box (30p each), to £16-18 in supermarkets - so 40p-45p a packet. I'm bulk buying, which is keeping the cost down to 33p each.

Warburtons Loaf, was £1 nearer £1.50 now !

Bleurgh to both of those…frogspawn or wallpaper paste! Not surprised the main supermarkets don’t have own brand of foods that went out of fashion 50 odd years ago!
You could make your own.

Foul stuff of school dinners!
Rice pudding yummy!!

I'm not that keen on Rice Pudding, I'll have occasionally (a Muller pot rather than a whole tin). In my au-pair days in Germany (30 odd years ago), I did used to make from scratch for the kids, not done since though!
My brother really likes though, unfortunately our mother is positively phobic (scarred by school dinners). She did used to buy for brother, he would eat straight out of the tin when she wasn't around! Oddly she’s ok with sago and semolina, not that we ever had it. I’d never had homemade rice pudding before going to Germany for obvious reasons!

I don't get putting jam in it though!

Muller or tinned rice pudding isn't close to a nice home made one, which is very simple to make

A mix of evaporated milk and whole milk, with the appropriate amount of rice & sugar, then bake in the oven on a fairly low heat until the liquid is just about all absorbed.

Personally, I’m not going to bother making something I’m not keen on for one person. I have maybe a couple of muller pots a year, never buy tinned.
Now pudding with custard is a very different matter (and no I’m not going to try to make fresh custard either and anyhow it’s too eggy for me xx()

Ouf, you don't need to tell me about cat food - and I've only got two cats who eat a mix of wet & dry.

A standard box of 12 pouches in Tesco has gone up from £3.75 to £5, and there's not been a sniff of a multi-buy offer in a very long time. You used to be able to buy 3 for £10 or 3 for 2 and stuff... I've seen the boxes of 12 for as much as £5.50 in places (yes, that's you, Zooplus).

Iceland still had the boxes of 40 (mixed selection so beef, chicken, salmon, tuna) at £13.99 the other day, but it's £15 in Tesco last I looked.

The girls' Royal Canin "Sensible 33" biscuits have gone up more than £10 a sack in the last year and a bit. I think I paid about £56 for a 10kg sack recently. They've also stopped doing the "2kg extra free" offers on that, too. (yes, that's you again, Zooplus...)

Since the rise in gas prices I have been using my electric slow cooker for rice pudding

We have a visiting feral cat that we feed (long story), he's going to have to catch more mice to earn his keep given the cost of food...

Don't get me on wild bird food too, love to feed and watch them but getting silly....

That's a bit posh... circa 1985....
2 pints of milk, 4 serving spoons of rice 3 of sugar in the oven under the roast.....

I stopped feeding the birds years ago, as the rats and squirrels kept wrecking the feeders and scarfed more than the birds.

What are you feeding the feral? (good for you, btw) Cans and bulk sacks of dry food may work out cheaper.

Haddock and cod is expensive now. I bought 2 loins of cod costing if I remember rightly £5.75 in Tesco! I just fancied some and thought why not, but I didn't eat it as planned. Instead I've frozen it for when I really fancy it, not just fancy it! 'Finny haddock is about 4 quid for two as well! Even tinned fish prices are getting silly. One supermarket's tinned mackerel has gone up from 75p to £1.20!

Hake is quite nice if you get a good fillet and is generally a little bit cheaper than Haddock and Cod.
