That is one of the films that I have never been able to bring myself to watch. There are others too that I would probably find just too depressing!
It's not a film I can fully engage with, it's too upsetting.
I nearly switched off at a particular a scene where shoes are thrown into a an ever-growing pile - it reminded me too much of a real holocaust exhibit of actual shoes that I once visited.

It would be worrying if you did!
Hmm. The words I originally wrote would not have made it past the mods; I've self-censored a bit too much, but could only discuss it in NACA!

Bad Boys 2 on Virgin Atlantic so it may have been slightly edited.

It's a brilliant film with stunning performances by Fiennes, Kingsley and the racist Irish feller, very thought provoking.

But it's almost  too good. Im not squeamish, seen a few things ove the years, but as a nice jewish boy I found it very difficult watch in places.

I really enjoyed this, although the messages got a little mixed at times, muddling between religious, social and political comment a little too often.

Basically if you're at the top of the pile you get the most food and if you're at the bottom, well, you're in trouble. They've spent the clearly low budget wisely on quality actors, tight writing and excellent effects.

Definitely recommended.

Have you seen the sequel yet? I was going to give it a go, having enjoyed the first one, but I'm apprehensive

I haven't, apparently it's a prequel, and to be honest I'm not overly bothered about seeing it.

Kind of like Cube (which it's easy to compare it to), it's contained within its own walls as a film and expanding out into the motivations seems like a waste of time.

That translation is a bit strange. In Spanish hoyo is a hole in the ground.

Yeah, I thought that too. The Spanish name is El Hoyo but it was released in English as Platform. Both make sense in the context of the film.

I can only imagine it's (possibly) due to a copyright issue with The Hole, which was Keira Knightleys' first major film appearance?

Either way, El Hoyo/Platform is miles better!

The same comparison occurred to me.
Cube was great but I can't remember the next film in the series - which suggests to me it was a bit poor. (I had both on imported Canadian DVDs, but no longer have a Region 0 player) .
Quite liked Platform, as one of the first films I watched when I subscribed to Netflix. Not sure what I'd expect from a 2nd movie.

The second two Cubes are alright, but nowhere near as good as the first.

Well, write it down boy ......
Last night I watched "The Green Book", based on a true story of a tour made in 1962 by a black classical pianist through the southern states of America accompanied by his American/ Italian minder. It's billed as a comedy drama and is good fun.

I love a Gothic horror so was looking forward to seeing this and for me it didn't disappoint. Its a bit of a slow burn and maybe not for everyone, but it's beautifully shot and well worth a viewing if you get chance.

Another "Scream Unseen" and I'm glad I knew absolutely nothing about it. And I don't want to give anything away but if you like tales about morality and ethics wrapped up in blacker than Hades humour then this is definitely for you.
