The Book Thief.
Excellent stuff ...i guess a story of childhood innocence and growing up in war torn Nazi Germany, continuously fed the Nazi bile as Hitler Youth, excited about the war initially, yet trying to retain their childhood and scared of the consequences of their actions.
I didnt notice it early on, but later, there's a stange narrative by either the grim reaper, or God himself...a strange haunting film, very very good.

Amelie (French with subtitles).

I'd just finished re-watching The Wire first season so fancied something of a change and remembered Amelie - the story of a young woman looking for love and helping others along the way. The tale gets a little boring in places but the wonderful cinematography more than makes up for it.

A little rude in places.

I read the book last year, the story is told by "death" or he grim reaper as you put it - an excellent read. I bought the DVD for my wife's birthday a few months ago, but we haven't watched it yet.

Finally got round to watching the more modern version of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy with Gary Oldman, John Hurt, Ciaran Hinds, Colin Firth etc, which we recorded off the telly in September 2013.

Rather good.

I agree !

The original was.one of the best ever TV dramas with Guinness turning in arguably his finest screen performance - which is really saying something - and the rest of the excellent cast in no way overshadowed. The remake had a very steep hill to climb and I was expecting it to be no more than "ok" - but fair play - I was enthralled. the Toby Esterhazy character, or particularly the scene they put the frighteners on him, was the only weak point, but otherwise a top class cast all on top form. I think Oldman is the Alec Guiness of our day and invariably excellent

I agree with everything you have wrote Andy, I agree totally on the LOTR I thought it was pretty lame to be honest. Memento is a cracking film, I'd never heard of Following. Thanks for that I'm going to get hold of that one

I decided to watch Goodfellas again last night as I haven't seen it for about 10 years, although I have seen it several times. What a cracking film, everything is top notch. The 3 leading actors are totally brilliant, the soundtrack is superb, Scorsese's best film for me. 9.5/10

I enjoyed LOTR and found Goodfellas a bit boring

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Rough night in jericho starring Dean Martin and George Peppard. A western with Dean Martin playing a baddie. Not bad. Oh and the good guys won

I Robot with Will Smith. Ive seen it a couple of times, but it's still an excellent film to watch 8/10

The Book Thief, neither good or bad really.

Very slow for the first hour, and then seemed to end without any real conclusion.

Inbetweeners 2: I wasn't bothered about watching this but I found it surprisingly funny. Weird!
Horrible Bosses 2: I knew what to expect and that wasn't much. I wasn't disappointed in not as expecting much. I just felt like watching a movie so I did. Jennifer aniston is hot in a non-hot kinda way. More weird.

Lucky Number Slevin.

Gangster movie with reveal at the end starring Josh Hartnett (who once tied with Peter Falk for a best acting award), Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Lucy Lui and Sir Ben Kingsley.

Not great but not bad either.
