Good because that is one of the ones I ordered for when I am out of hospital
Yup, good choice, watched it as I'm a bit of a road movie addict and happy to have a copy in my collection for rewatching.
On Friday we saw Under The Skin on a 99c deal with iTunes (the only time we ever hire anything from ITunes). Really good, but not very scary. The best scifi film I've seen for a bit anyway.
I'm not sure if watching the film will have spoilt it's impact, but the book (by Michael Faber) is terrific, and worth reading.

Had you
mistaken him for the good guy?
I had the film for a very long time and actually waited until I had the big flat screen TV (we owned an ancient CRT for a very long time) until watching it. It is a very good film, although my wife won't watch it.

Take little notice of that site, Inception got 8.8 for example which was pretty fiddle IMVO.

So I guess that would make it better theoretically than Goodfellas 8.7, Bladerunner 8.2, Alien 8.5, and Full Metal Jacket 8.4

The problem could possibly be that most mainstream films over the last decade or so are simply not as good as they used to be. So when the odd half decent film comes along it appears to get an over-optimistic rating.

You should be required to pass some kind of test about films to be allowed to rate on IMDB. Then you'd get ratings by discerning, knowledgeable folk rather than mung-beans who reckon LOTR is the greatest thing ever made.

I still don't get the massive love for Inception, it's well made and stylish but really nothing special and not as clever as it thinks it is. Certainly shouldn't be rated higher than Nolan's best films, Memento and Following.

If that is the same he as in my post, no. if it is the other he, possibly in kept swinging from one to the other, but bear in mind I am full of drugs at the moment, the morphine is just about keeping my pain in check with the help of 2 other drugs so my mind isn't living up everything at the moment

Finally got round to watching the more modern version of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy with Gary Oldman, John Hurt, Ciaran Hinds, Colin Firth etc, which we recorded off the telly in September 2013.

Rather good.

Woodstock: 3 Days of Peace and Music. Director's Cut.

A 4 hour documentary based on amateur and professional footage of the hippies and the bands in equal measure.

The music, apart from Hendrix and The Who, is pretty awful and the crowd coverage a bit superficial but overall it's one of those films that you are glad to have seen at least once.
best band at Woodstock has got to be Sha-na-na... they're the only group that looked like they enjoyed themselves.

Saturday night's movie was The Ipcress File... not seen it for years but is still as good as ever.

I agree with everything you have wrote Andy, I agree totally on the LOTR I thought it was pretty lame to be honest. Memento is a cracking film, I'd never heard of Following. Thanks for that I'm going to get hold of that one

I decided to watch Goodfellas again last night as I haven't seen it for about 10 years, although I have seen it several times. What a cracking film, everything is top notch. The 3 leading actors are totally brilliant, the soundtrack is superb, Scorsese's best film for me. 9.5/10

Following is brilliant. Low budget, original and very clever. Like Memento, he uses time to tell the story.

The problem I think with Inception is that he's been given a bag of money which dilutes his genuine skill behind the camera as CGI is used to mask flaws in the film. To put it another way, I can still remember pretty much everything about Memento nearly 10 years after first seeing it. All I remember from Inception is some spinning rooms and the bit where the van went off the bridge: for me that lasting impact is the difference between a great film and an alright one.

Rush.

Somehow, even as an F1 fan, I've never got round to watching it before now. Motor racing movies are usually terrible, but Rush is just brilliant because it tells the story of people and has no "Hollywood interference". It's also a true story.

Even if you aren't a racing fan, it's a damn good movie
