Over The Top.

A wonderful Sly Stallone epic with a plot by Shakespeare, directed by Kenneth Brannagh, and Stalline himself was clearly coached by Gielgud. The theme tune and incidental music by Bach was the cherry on top as far as I was concerned.

A masterpiece in every way, a favourite at Dignitas.

0/10.

Fargo (1995)

The film that inspired the series, its a deathly black comedy tragedy film. Watching it again there was a lot I'd forgotten about the film. Steve Buscemi is absolutely a little guy, kinda funny looking. Yah.

I've also found 2 new films directly related not to the film as such, but to the urban myth that the Japanese woman found dead in around 2001 that she died trying to find something (no spoilers!) she saw in the film. 1st film is a documentary about the woman's actual story, the 2ne film is fictional and treats the myth as truth as tells the story as if it was. Looking forward to watching both of those.
The new TV series...series 5 is so good 😍
Love Fargo the film, might have to rewatch it for the 8th time soon !

I hadn't watched it in a long time, I can't remember what put me onto it in the 90s as it wasn't a well known film but I remember renting it.

The series I haven't started yet but will be this week I think ^_^

Right what films have I watched....rewatched sorry.
Killing Them Softly.
I really like this film in a dark comedy sort of way.Its beautifully shot with a great cast...Brad Pitt is fantastic as the assassin,in fact when is he not good ! Gandolfini in one of his last roles,Liotta. Its such a great film if you haven't seen it.Soundtrack includes Johnny Cash and Velvet Underground can I big it up anymore !

Got me sort of thinking about Brad Pitt and DiCaprio as actors ...maybe because they're so good looking it's easy to forget how good I think they are !

The Creator - lowish budget sc-fi epic that looked much better than the big budget ones do. About the US trying to wipe out AI in parts of Asia, stating that it was evil and out of control, when in reality the Western (leaders) were the evil ones. Sounds about right the message in there. Was a bit flawed, started off a bit cheesey, then got a bit mindful. Really enjoyed it despite its flaws, the CGI was superb. 8/10

Christmas Bloody Christmas - 7/10

Good fun if you like your B Movies ridiculous and over the top, although the relentlessly shouty dialogue gets a bit grating. Quality kills and a rampaging robotic Santa make up for that though.

A complete tonal shift is next up with Love Actually, which I'm already dreading.

Saw the Wicker Man. Crazy film. I still enjoyed it though.

Was it a common thing for the local bobby to have a police flying boat back in the 70s ?

Love Actually wasn't that bad, actually - 6/10

There's way too much going on, and some of it really hasn't aged well, but it's fun enough if clichéd romance is your thing, and there's enough darkness and stupidity even if it isn't. Bill Nighy was great and Liam Neeson was actually believable in his role, as opposed to trying to convince as a hard-man.

He usually is. What part did he play? Oh silly me, I've remembered now - it was Bill Nighy, wasn't it?

(Good point about Neeson to be fair - he's actually quite good in the right roles. I've never managed to watch a whole Liam-as-hard-man movie!)
