Starship Troopers - 8/10

A lot cleverer than people realised at the time, and quite prescient considering global events these days. Gung-ho space battling goes badly wrong and mankind is left picking up the pieces of it's own arrogance. The OTT violence makes sense, and the fact that your numb to it by the end is kind of the point.

Paul Verhoeven is a seriously underappreciated director IMO.

It's an even better read.

Hmmm. This rings a bell. aha:

Starship Troopers

8/10

Satirical, critical and hugely underrated. If films could fight, I'd pit Starship Troopers and Total Recall against each other to decide which was Verhoeven's greatest. RoboCop would be allowed a shot at the champion. Hollowman would be allowed ringside seats out of sympathy.
From 2014! And you've reviewed it at least once since :P

I watched The Holy Grail with my 12 year old son.
I thought he would enjoy the slapstick comedy but the script doesn’t work well for a modern audience and it’s very slow compared to today’s flashy films.
( I hadn’t seen it for many years and didn’t find it that funny either this time round)

Space Nazis! Great film, Michael Ironside is amazing in this, as are all the 30 year olds playing high school students!

LIfe of Brian does make it look rather 2nd-rate. Still a good film,

Ok, action movie actress trivia quiz...
Y'all will remember this character from Terminator 2. But what other much-loved supporting role did she play?

The Royal Hotel....two female backpackers traveling through Australia, end up working in a remote mining town where things go bad !
I usually like anything Australian and there were some good actors in it.But overall bit of a let down, had the potential to be tense, scary but it just didn't happen.

I watched Luther: The Fallen Sun on Netflix last night.

Don't waste your time. It's not a patch on the TV series - and I can't believe it's the same writer.
The villain is a smaller version of Noel Edmonds but obviously can out fight Idris Elba. Then they turn him into a Bond supervillain. Absolute no logic at all.
Just rewatch the BBC show. Much more rewarding.
