We Were Once Kids (2021)

Its a documentary about the cast of the film Kids (1995) which if your not familiar is a controversial hard hitting film about kids in 1990s New York, it does feature underage sex, drug taking, violence and rape - a hard watch.

The original film (Kids) gives a very skewed look at what it actually was like for these kids growing up, their backgrounds and what reasons they really had for being so close. The documentary shows what it actually was like for them growing up, how the film making process and makers treated them (badly) and what it was like for them afterwards. It doesn't cover all the cast but it does cover the core cast that were already friends and found themselves playing caricatures of themselves.

Old - M. Night Shyamalan silliness (on Netflix). I often think his films would work better as 20min Twilight Zone episodes.

Harsh - his screenplay for Stuart Little was excellent!

Split is really good too. So was Sixth Sense and Unbreakable. Signs made no sense though and Last Airbender was laughably bad.

Been on a bit of a Saw trip recently, up to the fourth, and to be honest they actually get better as the story progresses. Not sure that they needed to make ten of them though.

Ladybird.... Coming of age film with Saoirse Ronan, love her as a actor. Not my usual choice but watched with my daughter and quite enjoyed it.

The Killer.....talking of actors I like, watched this last night and to be honest if it didn't have Fassbender playing the main part I'd of said it was sh1te.Under my breath obviously as my partner loves him ! Watchable but nothing to write home about.

what?!?

The lead is the wonderful Timothy Olyphant (well, he's wonderful in Justified (TV); this is not a great film ... )/ Also in the sequel i think , but I ain't seen it.
My mistake...late night ! Edited with correct Film 😁
Olyphant was ok in Justified....just went on too long as a series, much better was Deadwood. As for the Hitman it was sh1te.

I remember seeing the VHS cover of this 80s British horror film in my local video rental shop and being fascinated by what terrible dread it might contain for a wide eyed and nervous child.

Fast forward 41 years later I can reassure my 12 year old self, all those years ago, that there is nothing to be afraid of because the shockingly bad acting, direction, script and nonsensical plot provide a hilarious distraction to any fear which the film might have induced.

A saving grace is the gore, which is where all the budget seemingly went. But there is a weird sequence with a lifesized plastic Action Man which inexplicably comes to life and stabs the interfering old woman who lives in the flat below. She gives away her hiding spot under the sofa by reaching for a chocolate from the box which became overturned in the struggle with the murderous Action Man. I kid you not.

We watched Forgotten Love. A Polish film with subtitles on Netflix. We really enjoyed it. A bit cheesy but nice easy viewing. Well acted and very nice sound track.

That is a proper loopy film. 😂
