Gone with the Wind. Three hours and 40 minutes, never flags. You feel a bit dazed by the end but it's worth it. 80 years old, but boy has it worn well. Leigh & Gable are both flawless, and if ever a film lived up to 'epic' billing...No wonder it hoovered up the Oscars.

Black Panther.

I've seen reviews claiming it's the best Marvel film in a while. It isn't.
It's not terrible, but like most Marvel films it's overlong and has far too much padding between the action.

6/10

I was surprised by that too, but looking at some old reviews backs that up. To be fair, it is totally predictable and paper thin character wise, but still one helluva great film!

Predator 2 is so bad it's good.

It’s good because it’s good!

Criticises the gun/media culture so still relevant today, dread gangsters, proper heroic action, love it. And a surprise turn for the lead actor too. What’s not to like (don’t answer that)?

10 Cloverfield Lane.
Thus completing the trilogy for me albeit in a mixed up order but given each film can be seen individually without the need of knowledge of the other films...it (10 Cloverfield) was ok, the fear that the shelter owner was a nutcase, using some far fetched nonsense as a guise for his end, then slowly the inhabitants relax and all seems ok'ish...to the realisation he is nuts and ultimately the girls escape into a world as terrible as he portrayed.
I enjoyed it for what it was.

Captain America - Civil War.

For some reason I never quite managed to fathom, the Avengers are jolly upset with one another and take every opportunity to crack wise guy remarks and throw punches.

I'm still none the wiser as to the plot. Nevertheless, the action was great, and I've a soft sport for Captain America, who kinda reminds me of me.

7/10. Watchable, but don't expect Alan Rickman to suddenly start reading Shakespeare at any point during the wisecracking.

The Shape of Water - Hmm... not really sure what to think. Beautifully shot, occasionally brilliant, often shocking, but can't help thinking I could have done a lot more useful things with that 120 minutes... certainly wouldn't bother watching it again

Tarzan (not any of the good ones) - 0/10

Badly animated with story that makes absolutely no sense, even to a two year old. Something about a meteor? Who knows.

It seems that Hollywood disagrees(!) ;)
