well, not last night but a couple of days ago, and I really enjoyed both on the same day:

Game Night -was really surprized at how good (and funny) this was. I really enjoyed the next door neighbour, particularly when he invited them into the house (must be my sense of humour) when they needed his help. Rachael McAdams really made this film as well.

The Florida Project -first Willem Dafoe is excellent in this. Secondly, certainly not a comedy and the subject matter is definitely depressing. But it really is beautifully shot, and while on the face of it doesn't seem to have much of a story, I found myself being drawn eerily into it. Given it takes place within a stone's throw of Disney, the juxtaposition of Disney and the inhabitants of the motel and their situations makes it thought provoking. You had sympathy, disgust, respect and disappointment for so many of the characters, all mixed in.....

I thought they had seeded life inc. humans but then changed their minds, and so were wiping out what they had created.

With the bioweapons on that planet.

But the weapons destroyed them before they deployed them on earth.
That makes sense, they created us and then changed their minds..I probably misheard that bit.

I like Prometheus as a stand alone sci fi film. Linking it in with the Alien universe was a stupid idea IMO, especially since when interviewed Scott claimed it wasn't!

Predator.

Derided in its day, but has become a cult classic since. Strong performances from Carl Weathers, Jesse Ventura and Shane Black. Bill Duke is brilliant as the paranoia and horror reduce him to the edge of madness.

Interesting fact - Sonny Landham who played Billy was such a hellraiser the production team hired a bodyguard...to protect the public from him when he went on a bender.

And who can forget the scene where Bill Duke let's rip at the jungle with Ol' Painless? That alone makes this action masterpiece worthy of a...

Love this film. I even enjoyed the sequel which shows a lot more of the predator, his weapons and ship. Gary Busey is always good as a nutcase too.

I like it as an Alien movie, but then I like Alien 4 and Alien V Predator too.. Casting was great.

I’m looking forward to the next instalment...

In Bruges,
One of those films i can't believe I didn't catch earlier.
Bit like a dark version of 'Father Ted' in places, made me laugh out loud & rewind several times.

Funny, and very very dark.

What an awful situation to be in, where the slightest wrong move or misspoken word could mean being carted off to prison, or worse

Derided in its day? I didn't know that, I always thought it was a hit.

Predator 2 on the other hand...

I was surprised by that too, but looking at some old reviews backs that up. To be fair, it is totally predictable and paper thin character wise, but still one helluva great film!

Predator 2 is so bad it's good.
