Iron Man II.

By the time they'd blown their budget hiring Mickey Rourke and Sam Rockwell, they'd run out of money for the important stuff...Iron Man himself. Some of the non action scenes where Stark is in the Iron Man suit are appalling, the suit looking like its been made from melted down polystyrene hi fi packaging.

An enjoyable action romp badly damaged by penny pinching and lack of attention to detail - I guess the producers were feeling a bit smug after the popularity of then original, but had forgotten what actually made it popular in then first place.

5/10.

Agreed. They went full Transformers. Maybe not quite that bad, but they really sucked the fun out of it.

I quite liked it, but it's nowhere near as good as the first one, and Iron Man 3 is better than 2 as well.
Mickey Rourke is good in it though.

The Four Musketeers - the follow up to the Three, commented on here recently. More of the same really, tho' not quite so much fun IMHO, not least for the obvious reason that the novelty's worn off. Drago's comments about the polystyrene Iron Man suit reminded me of the sword fight on the ice scene - the combatants go through, and are then filmed paddling around surrounded by chucks of the least icey looking ice you've ever seen - so obviously broken up 2" polystyrene ceiling tiles it's just embarrassing. Still, an enjoyable romp.

Spiderman Homecoming. What a load of rubbish! I mean, I really liked 1 and 2, and even the Amazing Spiderman films were quite enjoyable. But this one is clearly aimed at 11 year-olds only. And even then, my 11 year-old did not rate it as highly as the earlier films.

I just watched my GoPro video of my descent from Col de Tentes (2200m) to Argeles-Gazost (450m) on July 6th, a whole 45km of descending. Weeeeee!......
The temperature changed a lot during the descent, too: it was about 23° at the top of the descent and about 38° at the bottom.

Worst CGI (or otherwise) snow I've seen was in Iron Fist. Like they'd emptied the contents of a beanbag and blown it about a little.

Blackhawk Down.

A salutory lesson in why politicians should not tell soldiers how to conduct a military op.

Grim realism, and I love the scene where the Little Bird attack heli opens up on the rooftop targets.

And, of course, excellent weapons drills ;)

9/10.

First saw it at the pictures as a student, pal got us in cheap as her sister in law worked there.
I pretty much know the script word for word

I watched The Cruel Sea. It seemed a realistic depiction of what it was like fighting U-boots. I could hardly recognise Donald Sinden. He was characterised as an old ham by Spitting Images and it stuck, but he was not like that when he was young.

Friday, I watched Sink the Bismark. That was reasonably faithful to the facts, I think.

Just the first one or all three? (all cracking films on my book, and i reckon BTTF2 has possibly the best ending in cinematic history) :okay:

Von Ryan's Express.

The tension between Sinatra's USAAF Colonel character and Trever Howard's British Major fair on sizzles, but hardens into a grudging respect as the plot unfolds.

A lot of money was spent on production. It was filmed on location in Northern Italy, real Bf109's were used, and the minimum of scale models. As a result it still looks realistic 52 years on, making it easy to suspend disbelief and settle back and enjoy the spectacle.

8/10.
