I hadn't known that about the author, Max Brooks I think? He must be raging with what they made, I know I'd be.
I know someone who say a Q&A with Brooks at the Prince Charles (before a Romero movie I think) and he talked very little about the film (just that one anecdote basically) and made if very clear that he took a big wad of cash, was told he'd have no creative control and so banked the cash and stayed well away from the filming. As mentioned, the book would be a very tough film to do well because it has no single character (beyond the interviewer) running through it and it's a history of a thing. I think Brooks realised this and just settled for sweet, sweet money.

I'd happily recommend the book as one of the best Zombie reads out there. Very intelligent, well thought out and suitably horrific in its conclusions.

I think you mean Yonkers dont you,but i get your point. They certainly could have done much better. The best thing about the movie was the wall climbing scene,i liked that.

Yes indeed. No idea where Junkers came from!

The author only made one stand, which was stopping them re-issuing the book with Brad Pitt on the cover, as his character isn't in it anywhere. The book is really clever. I can't comment on the film, I heard enough to decide it would just annoy me too much to watch.
I will definitely read the book if Brad Pitt isn't in it ;-)

Its a good book but made up of about a hundred different little stories about the war against the undead. The stories are told from a reporters interviews with people involved in the crisis so you do not get one long story but loads of mini ones. Some are just one page long while others can be ten pages. But well worth a read if your a horror fan.Not so much so if your not.

Safe House. It was dire. 2 hours locksmith a safe in someone's house would be more interesting. Violence in place of a plot, Denzel Washington playing Denzel Washington. Just pap.

Back on topic: I'm currently on Season 5 of Alias, watching all the seasons for the 2nd time. After that: who knows? I have Season 3 of Grimm ready to watch, so perhaps I'll watch that, then start watching Star Trek: Voyager, which I bought a while back, stashed away for when I needed my next Trekkie fix.

I'd actually say the opposite of your last line, I think it's both entertaining and accessible, it felt to me as if the horror part was downplayed somewhat.

Yes,you have a point. The horror element was very much played down.I have read far more gorier and evil books in the past.(American Psycho is one such book, forget the movie, that was crap).

Nah, the film was great, totally captured the deranged spirit of the book I thought. Couldn't have got away with the more graphic scenes in the book. I reckon it's the best adaptation, but I do quite like Less Than Zero too.

You know they made a sequel too? It was unbelievably shite. Worth a watch as an exercise in how not to make a film.
