Mad Furiosa, Shirley?

That's a fair assessment though I disagree that nothing happens. I thought it a glorious set up for what's next, which I reckon will be a different take on Road Warrior.

This will end up being the trilogy that Miller wanted to make originally.

Yes Mad Furiosa I meant lol. Yes it was an amazing spectacle to look at I can't deny that. I guess everybody has their own opinions of films though. I think plenty happens action-wise but the story is pretty thin, I think that's what I meant. I actually want to go and see this film again at the cinema as it was just so good to look at.

I was expecting more as this film was so highly reviewed on the internet, and I thought it was a bit of a let-down. I know that these shouldn't be taken that seriously as I couldn't believe the slating that Chappie got. So when I watched that I was expecting it to be shite and was pleasantly surprised just how awesome it was.

True, and it would be boring if we all liked the same stuff.

Agree that the story is wafer thin, but if you tried to put too much in there I reckon your head would explode with the effort of containing everything.

For me it's a visual triumph above all else.

Chappie is also mint. Internet review sites are full of idiots. I think Rotten Tomatoes has it at an average of 15% but has Sharknado at 90%. Says it all really.

I quite enjoyed WWZ... although all the best bits are also in the trailer. I felt the... (without wanting to give away a spoiler) ...cloak of invisibility was quite a unique idea.
Yeah, it was a good idea. But the film was poorly executed, too much dashing about the place, bad script... as contempary zombie films go, 28 Days Later is far superior in every aspect

The only similarity that World War Z had to the book was the name. It's like nobody involved had actually read the thing, then decided to cobble a shite script and some flashy CGI together whilst hoping that Brad Pitt would be enough to get punters in: sadly it worked. In capable hands it could have been really well done.

The author only made one stand, which was stopping them re-issuing the book with Brad Pitt on the cover, as his character isn't in it anywhere. The book is really clever. I can't comment on the film, I heard enough to decide it would just annoy me too much to watch.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Watched, tho' I've avoided all the remakes, having loved the original back in the day, because it gets a pretty healthy IMdB ranking and I was at a loose end. Bit meh, I thought. Impressive cgi, to be sure, but a quite interesting premise never really fully exploited. The whole thing ending up curiously flat and unengaging. 6/10?

I hadn't known that about the author, Max Brooks I think? He must be raging with what they made, I know I'd be.

Don't watch the film, it will infuriate you. I'd assumed from the poster that Pitt was going to be The Interviewer and spent most of the film trying to remember his actual character. Like you say, non-existent.

You could make a really good mini-series out of it I think, telling stories as flashbacks.

WWZ would be unfilmable i think because of all the different stories throughout the book. But i agree that they made a poor job with the movie, which itself has troubled from the start with numerous directors quitting and script changes all the way through production.

One part of the book which i loved was the zombies heading north, the cold and ice freezing them on the spot and to stay there till the thaw then they carry on looking for flesh to eat.A powerful little story in the book which never saw light of day in the movie.

I loved the book, so although the film was kind of OK, I found it very disappointing.
Can't believe they didn't even do the Battle of Junkers.
Maybe a TV series would do the book more justice.
