Warlock (1989)

I guess that dismissing a film about a time travelling wizard (sorry, Warlock) as preposterous nonsense is redundant, but I'm doing it anyway.

Quite enjoyable at times, although the director might have been more attentive in reminding Richard E. Grant to keep up whatever accent he was meant to be doing (Scots, I think, although who knows). Julian Sands, as the titular villain, does smug quite well, but other emotions tend to come across as though he's smelt someone else's flatulence in a lift, and is trying to figure out who dealt it.

The female lead is cursed to age twenty years each day, a process that consists of her hair getting longer and greyer, and her voice more crochety, so far as I can tell.

Not to be confused with Warlock (1959), a superior Western starring Henry Fonda and Anthony Quinn.

I think you're confusing it with Demolition Man, which is what the quote above is from.

Maybe?, not sure, it's been that long since I've seen it (& tried to forget it)

SWMBO & myself watched 'Star-Trek; Into Darkness' yesterday afternoon on Netflix (she perked up a bit, when she realised who the villain was)

I know it's supposed to be an exploitation movie, but really!

One of the 64K
Avengers: Age of Ultron last night. Went to the 2D screening after talking to friends who felt the 3D wasn't worth it and at times all the close ups made it fuzzy. Right decision as we didn't see anything we wished had been in 3D. Someone had dumped a cup full of sticky drink over the floor at a previous showing so it was sticky like a night club floor which was annoying (it was dark, so it could have been blood I guess, but being T. Wells we presumed not.) Film was good, lots of action stuff, some plot, we liked the new characters. Continuing the strong showing from Marvel Studios. Glad we got round to seeing it in the cinema. My wife really enjoyed it, I liked it a lot, but Mad Max was better (if possibly with slightly less funny bits). Maybe slightly too many call outs to the other films that are coming, bits of the Thor plot felt a lot like teasers for the next Thor movie, less so some of the Capt America bits.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Ex machina. Not a bad film. Great CGI, but a bit short in content, and to long. They dragged it out. Should have been a max hour and thirty minute film. 7/10

2. Bought 'Battle of the 5 Armies' at ASDA yesterday, might watch it with daughter this evening (she's off to see 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' again, with a schoolfriend, this afternoon)
Return it.

One should though, in spite of Boromir (who's probably my favourite of Jackson's characters).

The Hobbit films are a woeful take on the book, which I may have mentioned many times on this thread.

None of my mates have been able to counter one word of criticism about them: Tauriel.

I haven't seen any of the Hobbit films, and doubt I'll bother.
And I say that as a big fan of the Lord of The Rings films.

A wise choice.

Very wise. The action scenes are entertaining, not mindblowing, plenty of slow moving travelling filler and some utterly preposterous bits crowbarred in, Sylvester McCoy's whole contribution stands out there - not his fault but there to help pad out a 1 film book into 3 films.

Bang on. Radagast probably accounts for 3 pages of LoTR and isn't properly in The Hobbit. Having him in it is almost as stupid as a dwarf/elf romance.
