Mad Max (1) and Dawn Of The Dead were the first films I ever watched on VHS at far too young an age for the latter (about 10). I still love them both, modern films don't seem to capture that post-apocalyptic feel the same as these gems did. It's a shame that they are re-making Mad Max as I imagine it will dumbed down for the masses and ****e like most remakes are. Then again I enjoyed the loose 2004 re-make of Dawn Of The Dead (not as good as the Romero film), so fingers crossed.

Lizzie out of cell block H brings back memories of Vinegar Tits etc (what she used to call the man-like female screw I think). I used to enjoy Cell Block H, not sure why

I think 10's the perfect age for films like that... a few more years and they stopped scaring the sh!t out of me!.

Re: Cell Block H... it's one of the greatest TV shows ever! Yeah some of the acting was shoddy and the walls wobbled... but for the most part, the stories were excellent and well written, and the hammy acting had a real warmth to it. I'm generally not a fan of remakes either, but Wentworth, the re-imagining of Cell Block H is excellent

and talking of remakes... last night I watched the latest Godzilla movie. It seemed to borrow a lot from Cloverfield, which in turn borrowed a lot from the original Gozilla. Although it was a lot more in keeping with the original Godzilla films, I think I prefer the 90s version with Matthew WarGames and Leon Reno as that's just daft fun and this one has far too much filler.

Adam & Paul. Proof if ever it were needed that you don't need pots of money to make a great film. Achieves the near-miraculous in making you care deeply about and fear for a couple of in many ways utterly worthless and in some quite loathsome characters. A rare gem.

10 is not the right age to watch people being eaten lol. It gave me seriously bad dreams for quite a while, but I do agree with what you are saying. I remember sitting and watching the Evil Dead 2 with mates and 1 of my mates older brother whom was about 6 years older. We were all crapping ourselves and did not know what to make of it, whereas he was in hysterics at the slapstick humour. So I guess some films are better to be watched far too young and some you have to be older to get them.

I should really watch Cell Block H again and the re-make. I think it was just a great time of my life when I had no worries living with parents and when I used to get in late at night this seemed to be on a hell of a lot. But I did really like it at the time.

I still need to watch Godzilla, what I have seen the effects were amazing. I thought Pacific Rim was great despite the shoddy acting and general daftness, I just think it's the giant robots versus sea monsters thing brought the kid out of me. Still I believe Godzilla is nowhere near as daft as Pacific Rim.

The new Gozilla is really good. Godfather serious when compared to Pacific Rim though.

I was really disappointed by Pacific Rim. I hope it hasn't heralded the end of Guillermo del Toro's ability to make a decent film.

I actually laughed out loud when the massive robot guys were worried about not having any more ammo, only for one of the characters to yell 'SWORD!' and the arm transformed into, you guessed it, a sword.

Last night I watched Triangle, from Christopher Smith, who brought you Creep, Severance and Black Death. I'm a big fan of all his previous efforts, and this continued my support of him.

It's a psychological horror effort, which is not without its flaws, but is still very, very good. Twisty and at times confusing, but a refreshing take on the genre.

7/10.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
I didn't like the new godzilla. I much prefer the older one. The new film was much to long and quite boring. Sorry.

Maybe I'm being harsh on the 98 one. I just have memories of a growing sense of dismay as what little plot there was fell apart and a t-rex looking thing masqueraded as Godzilla. I've got it on DVD so I'll re-watch this week.

The 2014 version is 15 minutes shorter than the 1998 one though
