Leon - Director's Cut.

Adds a quite a bit to the Theatrical as that was cut to suit the American market (censorship-wise).

Recommended.

+1, my favourite film, an absolute corker.

Watched recently, American Hustle, biggest dog pile of a film I've ever had the misfortune to see, dull dull dull, absolutely nothing happens
Alpha Papa, poor, wouldn't watch it again.
Despicable Me 1+2, brilliant, I didn't think I'd like them but I really enjoyed them, will be watching again.

I watched the first 25 minutes of Zombieland by accident and really liked it but being old at 45 I had to go to bed! I might have to buy it as its only a couple of quid on Amazon

Buy it. You won't be disappointed.

For reasons I'm not entirely sure of, I revisited two of the grimmer films I've seen last night. Neither are for the faint of heart, or those lacking a stern constitution.

A Serbian Film. 7/10

The director of this has tried to justify the film as a political allegory of how the naked country is run. I've watched it as such and I think he may have a point, but it's lost in the sheer brutality and inhumanity of what takes place, which I suppose is the idea. As a torture/violent/pornographic/horror piece it is devastatingly effective. The final few scenes are truly harrowing.

Human Centipede 2. 8/10

A nauseating slice of cinema. Takes the first film as a fictional event that the protagonist becomes obsessed with and so decides to recreate, using the star of the original. Dark and twisted, and very well filmed. There is none of the camp horror of the first film, as it's replaced by a gritty reality which works very well.

Transendence...........not bad.A bit like the story in The Terminator where machines become self aware and start to take over, but without the actual terminators.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
The newest Godzilla film. To be honest, not good. Too long, not enough substance. Quite boring in fact. Not as good as the first film. 5/10

It was only on seeing the director's cut did i realise that the theatrical version doesn't really make sense... no way would Matilda have attempted to go after Stansfield with the few bits of training we saw her get in the short version. I think it's still Luc Besson's finest moment, with The Extraordinary Adventure of Adele Blanc Sec and The Fifth Element in second and third place... I guess i'd put Nikita in a distant fourth place, but there's still a few I'm yet to see.

As a kid I remember being scared witless by that film. Having recently watched it again I can't help but think the demon is related to the Gruffalo.

can't help thinking it wouldhave been better if the Demon hadn't been shown (a) would have been more scary, and (b) you would still be wondering if it was reql or not.

One critic/ commentator , perhaps even the director felt it qas important tht the audience does understand the demon is real, whilst the hero still doubts

terriffic film - and Niall Mcginnis is terriffic as the almost playfull wizard.

two films which I've watched, enjoyed and found both to be very interesting films, the centipede films are crazy horror movies but a serbian film I thought was a really good story but it is a very ****ed up film and by the end I couldn't help wondering not in a negative way but what type of person thinks up these types of films and has the balls to make them in to movies...

Agreed. They are tough going but well worth watching and are important pieces. I think that in time they will be viewed the same as Night of the Living Dead in terms of their impact on horror film making.
