What film did you watch last night?

Just watched Monuments men. A war time (based on a) true story about a group soldiers, American, British, French and a German Jew, that sought out all the art treasures stolen by the Germans, and returned to their rightful owners.
Starring and directed by George Clooney. A good film, worth a watch.

Did we watch the same film?

I saw Monuments Men last night and found it to be a load of rubbish, as did the missus.

Badly acted, badly written and much too predictable.

If they kept to the book (which I haven't read), I'm sure it would have been far more exciting.

You owe me one hour and 42 minutes.

Well if the film is a true story, then the predictability can not be changed. Anyway sorry, can you pay hours by Paypal?

I picked up the Indiana Jones DVD boxset in a charity shop yesterday, which fortunately doesn't include the abysmal Kingdom of the Crystal Skull... so i watched Raiders of the Lost Ark for the umpteenth time, but the first time about 20 years... still a cracking film after all these years

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Ok peeps. After I watched Noah there were these things called the watchers and I know some people thought they were more than a bit riddiculous, and didnt believe they were in the bible.

However, in the book of Enoch beings called the watchers were sent to watch humans. The watchers became lustful, and wanted to marry the humans and so took human form and rebelled against god. The leader was called shemial (not sure of the spelling) and it's thought that he is in fact the being who became the devil, and he and his followers were cast out.

But, they didn't look like they were portrayed in the film. They were more like celestial beings, so I dont know why they were made to look like that in the film.

Just back in from watching The Rover.

5/10

I try to avoid drawing comparisons with films that aren't really related, but this was far too close to The Road, so the lazy parallels were obvious. Beautifully shot, but that's about it. Even Guy Pearce looked like he was wondering what the f£ck was going on by the end.

Watched "Deadlock", an acid western directed by Roland Klick.

It's pretty clearly influenced by Good, Bad, Ugly and some of the actors even look the same as their earlier counterparts.

It does it's best to subvert the genre - in the final shoot out "the kid" refuses to assume the position and stays seated - and is pretty successful all in all. It was a big influence on Jodorowski apparently.

Perhaps the more notable things is a superb Can soundtrack. It's as searing as the sun which drenches the movie.

It was part of a Klick double bill, followed by White Star which features Dennis Hopper. Hopper reckoned it was the worst film he'd ever been in! My German wasn't really up to following it, so gave up after a few minutes.

Night Of The Demon (1957) - Have watched this loads of times, brilliant British suspense horror. Don't make them like this anymore. 9/10

Prisoners (2013) - Not as good as the reviews suggested, then again I didn't like the subject of messed up people kidnapping young kids, so not my kind of film. 6/10

Watched the skin I'm in on Saturday, can't say too much as I don't want to give the end away but it basically has Antonio Banderas as a bonkers plastic surgeon and Elena Anaya as his 'patient';won't say any more but it's typical bonkers Almodova stuff but very good(if you like that sort of thing).
