Chris Rea was stricken with dysentery while appearing on TOTP in 1972. Unable to find the loo he blundered in to the Dr Who set in an adjacent studio and took a dump on one of the props.

Thus Dr Who's ship was named the TURDIS, and similar devices were deployed at building sites and music festivals across the nation.

Due to a mix up in hospital Chris Rea was swapped with another baby and both went home with the wrong parents.

He really should be first in line to the throne, but as it's too late to go back he receives compensation every month of a jar of organic honey and £3.00 from the Duchy of Cornwall estate, and due to the origins of the cash he doesn't have to declare it to HMRC.

Chris Rea designed the sets for Blake's Seven. It wasn't his greatest bit of set design work but he later explained "We were on a tight budget. There's only so much you can do with egg boxes and Rice Krispies cartons"
