I quite fancy Ham, eggs and chips at the pub today :hungry:

I confess that my ham will be prepacked thin sliced whereas yours will likely be thick cut.

Like many things that were so simple years ago when hen & stag do's were just drinks at a pub with your mates; they have become much more bloated affairs. All in the cause of parting participants from their money.
I didn't have a stag do. We had a church wedding, family and close friends followed by a meal at a local hotel. Thirteen of us in total.

On the Saturday morning there was a knock at the door. It was the priest just checking we were still coming..........that was 100% down to Mrs P. Another story I will save for later.

This was the Saturday when a huge TV event took place. One of those national moments. Who shot JR was to be revealed? After the meal we partied on for a while and then all trooped into the TV lounge to watch Dallas!!!

Did we have style!

WoW.....big decision, go to bed with your new wife or watch Dallas ^_^ .
Our 1st night was spent in the flat we had just rented. For some reason we overslept the next morning and just managed to catch our bus to our honeymoon destination which was Scarborough.

Both my marriages were held in a register office. The same one actually - much to Mrs SD's displeasure!

Not religious so a church wedding was never going to be on the cards.

In fact, the only church event I will ever attend is for funerals when I am happy to subsume my abhorrence of all things religious out of respect for the deceased's loved ones on such a sad occasion.

Weddings & baptisms, I give a wide berth to.

Second wedding was just me and my lovely wife-to-be plus my future sister-in-law and my brother as witnesses.

Dead simple and absolutely perfect.

Weddings: another bloated consumer event, imo. It is quite ridiculous how much debt some people will incur so that someone can be a 'princess' for the day. This seemingly the common parlance these days.

I got married in the register office in Coventry, the oldest in the country, older than most churches.

The one I got married was quite old too All Saints Church Fawley -
The current building dates from the twelfth century and appears to been built over two periods, 1170–1210 and 1300–1340.
There is reference to an earlier church, likely to be on this site, dating from 971 and possibly some parts were reused in the current building
