I got married in the register office in Coventry, the oldest in the country, older than most churches.

It’s a lovely old building in the heart of a modern city and I think it’s terrific it still used as the city’s register office . I remember registering my daughter’s birth there like it was yesterday.

Like many things that were so simple years ago when hen & stag do's were just drinks at a pub with your mates; they have become much more bloated affairs. All in the cause of parting participants from their money.

Daughter got married at a registry office in London. Reception was held in the beer garden of the local pub which was in walking distance of the registry office with catering arranged by the pub. Wedding dress came from a local charity shop ( not a " proper " wedding dress but a posh frock ) and was donated back after the wedding.
I ran a " free bar " and included the locals as the bar staff made sure nobody was taking advantage. A great day out and certainly saved a fortune.

Good morning folks. We ran out of hot water last night 🥲. We have a traditional " Y " plan setup, cold water to the kitchen then up to a big tank in the loft where it feeds the rest of the house. Taps started sputtering and reduced to a trickle before stopping completely. Climbed up into the loft and found the cold water tank empty. Texted our plumber who suspects debris in the ball valve mechanism. He's going to pop in at 08:30 and take a look. I suppose the plumbing work in the kitchen might have been the initial cause. At least the incoming mains tap will provide water for coffee ☕️
